Can I roll reserves for my units at the same time with different colored dice?

What if they were identical units?

Usually I will have all units in reserve already out of the case, and ready to be placed on the table. I just let my opponent know "hey I am rolling for reserves for these units, (or deepstrike, outflank, etc.), and will roll a die next to each unit. I leave the die there then, until it is time to deploy the unit, or the next Reserve (deep strike, outflank, etc.) roll comes along.

Keeps things simple, clean, and argument free.

Che-Vito do you have a problem with me having 3 units in reserve, and getting a black dice, a red dice, and a white dice and saying "the black dice is my battle tank, the red dice is my sentinel, and the white dice is my rough riders" then roll them at the same time?

I'd have no problem with that

There is nothing wrong with that. Nor (I believe) should there be an issue with 3 identical dice when rolling for 3 identical units.

nothing wrong with that but it could get confusing. i've seen plenty of players mis-hear stuff like that due to a noisy gameroom and then argue ("no, i said on a 4,5,6 it's this model that's removed, not that one!"). if you're going to do that, i'd recommend maybe blotting a color that matches the die you'll use next to each unit on your printed army list. that way there will be no confusion.

Nope, no problem.

I was suggesting an alternative that requires no different colored dice, and is especially helpful when using armies that may have a large amount of Reserves (Tau), Deepstriking (Daemons, SM), or Outflank (anybody with units with Scout).

And this is what I was referencing earlier. The kind of idea above is more complicated, requires more coordination, and ultimately will not be any more efficient than what I suggested. Keep it as simple as possible, and the game will go smoother.

agreed. i was just trying to give the OP a "backup" to refer to incase the opponent had a problem. personally, i think it's just easier and simpler to point to a unit with one hand and roll the reserve die with the other. in 10 years of 40k gaming (with a gap in the middle lol), i've never had a hiccup using that system!
