I recently played my dad at warhammer fantasy, and as my cold ones+master charged his longbeards+thane, my master challenged his thane to a challenge, after reading the rules we were still baffled what we agreed on doing was this:
My master and his thane were placed in da centre of the combat, where they fought, with no interference, meanwhile my coldones fought his longbeards.
My cold ones massacred his lonbeards and they rolled a for thier break test but my cold ones did not flee because the challenge was still going on (i needed a 6 to wound him because of his rune my dad bought 4 him), eventually i wounded him but he did not flee. Then my cold ones got charged my 3 different units and were killed later, his thane ran, and then my master was bombarded with attacks from ironbreakers,gyrocopter etc. he fled and was not caught, l8r he rallied that was that
What i am wondering was that the right thing to do???

The challenge is still part of the combat and unit so your unit should have fled with the master.

The character that accepts the challenge is moved, not both.

You may only choose what character issues the challenge, your opponent chooses who accepts the challenge.

The challenge continues until one character is dead or the combat ends through someone fleeing.

Yes. He was part of the unit when they entered combat and results of a challenge affect the combat resolution at the end. Unless he was not a part of the unit when the combat occurred, he will flee with the unit.
