My friends and I were playing a 2 on 2 game(tau/Guard against marines). The tau guy had a Sky Ray, and he was firing at my land raider redeemer. I was more than 36" away, and he rolled hit, penetrated, and stunned it. Then his teamate(who also plays tau) that he has to have a markerlight on me to fire those, and then said that those shots didn't count and he still had them. My team then argued that he already settled the shots, and shouldn't have them. Who is right?

Another question
My friend was deepstriking tyranid spores, but forgot about them til turn 4. He then said that he could immediately roll for them(even though we were in the shooting phase), because it says in the rules that you must roll for reserves ASAP, no delaying. I argued that forgetting about them was delaying, and that they should be either destroyed or delayed next turn(because you roll for reserves before moving). Who is right?

Thanks in advance,
Org.

Both of these questions are totally based on how nice or not nice you are.

me:

1. If the guy played his vehicle wrong/against the rules, and his own teammate caught him on it; the guy (tau player) should of said, sorry, it doesn't count. You shouldn't have to say that, that is a sportsman call on the shooting player. If the guy does not want to be a good sportsman, the least either of you could offer is a dice off. I would of personally offered him the chance to re-do that entire shooting phase 'cause he appears to have probably goofed up more than just that. But this is just me.

2. Just me, he should delay them until the next turn. When I forgot about my reserves (and it has happened before) that is what I did. If it was the last turn (or possible last turn) of the game, then you should talk it over with your opponent. If your not in a tournament/competition then there is no reason why your opponent should not let you go back and DS them. I mean its just a game, unless someone is that selfish that all he wants is a win, then let him have the win and remember his attitude in any future games with him.

EDIT: YMDC is usually reserved for rules questionnaires, and this is kinda borderline rule type stuff, so, I don't know if it is in the right spot. But, none-the-less, this should spark some interesting discussions.

Basically there are no rules covering what to do if you play something wrong. You're on your own here.

1. You cannot fire a Seeker Missile without a Marker Light on the target. If I understand correctly what you stated, then there is no way the missiles could have been fired, as the LR did not have a Marker Light on it.

2. Agreed with padixon above. It all depends on how nice or not nice you are, but that's pertaining to the Destroyed vs. Delayed part. However, bringing units in from reserve during the shooting phase would be against the rules. Units coming into reserve happens at the beginning of the Movement phase. All the rules are on p. 94 & 95 of the rulebook.

Also: Welcome to the game! You'll find that you'll miss a lot of rules here and there when you're first starting, especially if you don't have an experienced player teaching you. I suggest getting in on games at your local game shop if possible.

Exactly agreeing w/ above, this is all sportsmanship, rather then rules per se.

When i'm playing with my friends, and someone screws up a unit's shooting, we eather undo and redo the entire units shooting, or if it's been to long &'d be to complicated to undo, ignore the units shooting. If it's been, like, a turn, then we just play on as is. Of course, you can't penetrate a landraider with a seeker missile, but that's another issue. (8+6=14, a glance)

As for reserves (which everyone forgets), I usualy let people get away with rolling for them any time in the movement phase, but one they start shooting, it's to late, wait till next turn. I try not to rule an opponents (or mine) unit is destroyed by anything unless there's no other real option. That just leads to angry people.

1) I don't really see a reason that the shot should be half resolved because of his rule slip, I could understand if he just forgot the range or something, but in this instance he can't fire the seeker missile without a markerlight hit, so you can't really say "you launched it but missed for reason xyz" in this situation if you go back to correct the issue, it means he isn't allowed to fire in the first place and he should get the missile back.

2) The rules for reserves say you must roll for reserves ASAP but also clearly define the time for this roll being made as the start of the movement phase. The ASAP in this case simply means on turn 2 I am not allowed to say "unit X does not roll for reserves" and as soon as a unit is eligible to roll for coming on from reserves they must, that does not mean you can change the time the roll is made.

1) Water under the Bridge VS Model Unable to Do What was Done. Roll a D6 and call it high/low.

2) If you are caught forgetting something/doing something like that (reserves situation), he should delay until next turn. He can't use a Mea Culpa to re-organize his turn like that.

I have a question...How did a skyray cause a penetrating hit on a landraider...S8 vs av 14 if i'm not mistaken.

And yes both of these questions really come down to how you resolve the issue. No rules for these kind of things.
