You can with the Wireless connector thing. It only works if you have WiFi were you live.

Aye, you buy the separate wireless extension, hook that to your 360 and then configure that thing to connect with your own home wifi connection. Silver is the free service and gives you access to the marketplace, downloads and that's it. If you want online play you'll need to upgrade to Gold.

I thought silver just let you play online, and gold was the marketplace, DLs, etc?

I dunno though, I just carried over my original xbox gamertag to my 360, so I'd have been paying either way.

No, silver allows for most downloads while Gold gives access to everything.

Well of COURSE gold is better, I just didn't realize it actually let you get downloads as silver

According to Microsoft gaming online is more important than downloading demos and trailers.
