I have a useful tactic for autarches, but this is only theory, there may be a flaw in this plan, if there is please say.

Autarch Wargear:
Power sword, fusion gun, swooping hawk wings, mandiblasters

P.S. I think the fusion gun is 2 handed in which case 4 get the power sword

Fusion Pistol Methods:

1) Deep strike behind a tank, hopefully you will not land on it (mishap), preferably with 4" of it, that may be hard but 8" is essential (range of fusion gun) shoot the tank. The back AV of a tank is rarely more than 12, so fusion pistol (S8) 8+D6 hopefully a penentrating hit.
If you did manage to get within 4" thats 8+2D6. Dont 4 get with the mandiblasters the Autarch has 4 attacks BANG!!!

2) The same goes for terminators, 6 (charge bonus) S8 AP1 attacks shooting, with a high
BS (5) thats surely got to be at least 2 or 3 killed

3)If your feeling brave you can deep strike then charge and with a power sword your autarch with cleave through any armour.

Note: Autarches like most eldar have an appauling T of 3 so dont get shot, of killed by power fists and power klaws! Make the most of the autarches save of 3+ and invunerable save of 5+

p.s i think an Autarch may have more attacks dont have the codex with me, might b 5 on the charge

Errr.

I thnk you need to re read the rule book before worrying about the codex. In particular the bit about number of attacks, and when BS or WS are used, along with what weapons can be used in melee or shooting. Then another look at deep strike rules and assault.

yes i understand you may not b able to deep strike and assault on the same turn

That still doesn't explain the mandiblasters giving you 4 attacks with a fusion gun

nor the charge bonus with a fusion gun, and using BS on the charge.

It sounds like you think that the number of attacks on the profile applies to shooting. And that you are thinking you can use the guns stats in CC.

And no you cannot deep strike and assault, barring some special rule which your autarch is lacking.

@ Eldar Own

Sounds interesting.

A piece of "friendly" advice, using textspeak is frowned upon around here. Using numbers in place of letters seriously hampers understanding. Not to mention it makes you (generic you) look like a mouthbreathing, basementdwelling moron.

I also believe that I am atleast the second one to mention this to you.

The eye of terror.

Even if an autarch has a fusion gun (which has a 12" range BTW), it does not replace his shuriken pistol, so he will still gain a bonus from having power weapon/pistol/mandiblasters, so that's 5 attacks.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

I think you got to that point long before you started this thread...

Proofreading your posts is a good thing. It keeps people from thinking you're a simpleton with a severely sloped forehead, dragging knuckles, and a complete lack of redeeming qualities.

Now, aside from all that, why don't you just crack your rulebook there for a minute and run down that list of errors?

I think there are a few traditional Autatch setups.

There are only two that I use:

Autarch
-Fusion Gun
-Mandiblasters
-Power Weapon

This guy is inside a WS with a group like my Howling Banshees.

or...

Autarch
-Mandiblasters
-Laser Lance
-Eldar Jetbike

This guy can fly around with a seer council or just hang out with a normal JB squad, or perhaps even Shining Spears and give them a little extra 'oomph'.

This is personal opinion of course, but having a single unit jumping around with Wings seems a bit pointless, since Hawks should be deep striking anyway (*teardrop* shame they dont get used because they are beautiful models). I would probably say the same thing for the warp spiders too, and when you can get that bike mobility with that toughness increase for only ten points more, it seems like a steal.

I saw an interesting combo of laser lance/jetbike/reaper launcher before, never tried it personally.

Yep jetbikes work too, howerver my JB squads always seem to get targeted and killed first, especcialy if its an objective mission

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

The Autarch I use has a PW, Mandiblasters, and an Avenger catapult. He goes with my Banshees, beasts in close combat, and costs a cheap 92. points.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

Only 8 points more for a Fusion Gun, it's hard not to take.
