I've been taking a look at the new Guard codex and listening to some 40k radio (PUNCH IN!) and I've been formulating in my mind what a killer Guard list would look like. I not sure what all the points costs would be, so this is all just a sort of theoryhammerish.
To get to the point, I think that the most killy guard list possible with the new codex is GK termies in valkyries zooming around the table wreaking havoc. now, if I'm not mistaken the transport capacity of a valkyrie is 20 models of any kind This means that you could theoretically plop 20 GK termies into a valkyrie and zoom them right up to your opponent and throw a bunch of NFW and psycannon goodness right in your opponents face first turn. In addition to deeling out huge amounts of damage the GK termies can also absorb a lot of fire and are hard hitting in close combat. This makes them extremely powerful and survivable. what do you think?

Congratulations, you just discovered something that we've been discussing since the codex came out and that there's already a thread on.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Valkyrie capacity is 12.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Valkyries can hold 12 models.

We already know about the GKT + Valk thing.

It is probably not the most powerful thing in the new codex.

For reasons like this (and even more so for the DH inquisitor + mystics + psychic hood) I hope GW releases new codici for the Witch Hunter and Daemon Hunters soon. Some of the alliance combo's are just cruel and probably weren't even considered when writing the 5th Edition Space Marine and Imperial Guard codici.

Armies like Chaos Daemons are just totally screwed in the tournament scene, only because every Imperial player fields a DH Inquisitor with Mystics. This is just wrong.

Funny, I dont' recall hearing about any WH/DH armies winning GT/RTs... I suspect that the DH Mystic thing isn't as over powered as some players think.

so far in testing against Daemons and other deepstriking armies, it has been very powerful. Obviously it is essentially useless against anything that doesn't deepstrike though.
