So I've got a tournament on Saturday. I've played my Daemons once against Dark Eldar and scraped out a win due to time limit.

I was just hoping for some pointers. Before I go on, my list is..
4x HoK, Chariot, Might.
5 Fiends. 3 Flamers. 4 Crushers.
3x7 Horrors, Bolt, Changeling.
8 Bearers, 11 Bearers with Icon.
3 Phlegmgrinder.

...

What are my good/bad matchups?

Any tips against certain armies?

Any advice, links to good batreps or tactica articles would be appreciated.

So it seems like your list is locked, and you are just looking for advice on how to run it?

Your bad matchups would be fully mechanized armies. You just have six strength 8 shots at BS3. So you are going to land, get shot at, move forward, get shot at, charge a 35-55 point transport and then get shot at again.

Orks that spam killa kans will also give you fits.

Orks without kans or transports should be a very favorable matchup for you.

Any other army that decides not to take transports will also work out pretty well for you.

If you want a little bit more help with anti-vehicle, but don't want to change any points values or models, you can make the phlegm on the soulgrinders tongue. You already have 21 horrors, 3 flamers and nasty khorne close combat to tackle foot armies, you don't need a large blast.

Have fun and let us know how it goes

where i want to be

I find tau to be a rough match up. So you may have to be a bit risky with the Horrors, but they can really tear them up and by the rest of your army time to get in CC with them witch is where you need to be.

any sort of marines should be a cake walk.

Yah id be interested in hearing how the games go.

I never really considered my ability to take out transports when writing the army. Which, is pretty stupid.

And my armylist has been submitted for the event, so I can't change it.

A solution would probably be to take a couple of min-sized Screamers or Hounds and suicide them at transports or tanks. I'd even be tempted to take 2 Phlegm 1 Tongue.

Still, first tournament with this army will be a learning experience with a massive learning curve.

Don't even consider screamers. They are terrible and can't even run to spread out after they show up to spread out.

I am not sure if you have checked the tactica out (shameless plug) but there is a link to it in my sig line.

Actually, I read a lot of your stuff when I first started Daemons ages ago.

What are the best solutions to armour?

Phlegm seems too good to pass up. Though, having phlegm sorta changes it from an assault machine to roll and shoot tank.

Bolt on horrors seems like a waste due to the BS and the lack of fire division.

The quick answer is, tzeentch heralds are good at popping armor, as are soulgrinders with tongue (the BS3 is a bit of a drawback, but it is better than nothing).

As you said, putting it in a unit of horrors is a bit of a drag because you effectively lose the rest of the shooting, but, depending on what you are facing it is well worth it. Plus if you can swing a rear shot the horrors can glance.

To be honest, I am in the process of working through my own lists in light of the new mech heavy lists. Ironically, I almost feel that monstrous creatures may make a bit of a comeback as many of the scary vehicles out there lose a great deal of effectiveness against eternal warrior monstrous creatures.

I am thinking of trying out a 3 sniper prince, 4 herald list sometime soon against shep - I will let you know how it goes.

I'm thinking I should've built a slowed tzeentch list. Somethign like..

4x Heralds on Chariots with shooty powah.
3x3 Flamers.
3x Princes with also with shooty powah.
Remainder in Horrors with Bolt.

But, I play in a soft comp environment. At least, it was last tourney I played in like a year ago.

...

I also just resubmitted my list to the tourney organiser in hope that I can play something a touch more competitive.

Resubmit:
4x Heralds on Chariot with Might.
4x Crushers.
3x Flamers.
2x9 Bearers with 2x Icons.
5x Fiends.
4x5 Horrors with Bolt and 1x Changeling.
3x Phlemgrinder.

I figure that another Bolt means wasting less firepower from the remaining horrors. Another Icon means my army will be less predictable. And gives me an excuse to convert up Icon bearers. I was going to take 2x Phlegm and 1x Tongue, but completely forgot to put it in my list. =p

I also think that if I can pick up some more Fiends secondhand, I'll replace the Crushers with them. But eh, we'll see after the event.

What're you considering taking to combat mech? I'm curious.

I actually really like your second list and mine is kind of similar except instead of khorne heralds I am using tzeentch, I don't use flamers or fiends but replace them all with crushers (running 2 units of 5).
