Even though Mega Armor says it replaces the usual armament, can you still run a Warboss in Mega Armor and give him a Kombi-Scorcha? Ive heard both sides of the rules, and wanted to get a bigger concensus. I already have one modeled/painted, which is why it's EXTRA important, lol.

Thanks everyone!

i don't see why not. the mega armor doesn't exclude you from taking a kombi skorcha as a mega nob squad is free to take them. the warboss comes with a slugga/choppa for free, replaced with the TL-shoota and power klaw from the mega armor, and then finally upgraded to a combi shoota-skorcha (and power klaw unchanged).

Nope. Not legal. Warboss does not have the option to take a Kombiskorcha with his Mega armor. That is 3rd edition rules.

Just because MANZ can do it doesn't mean the warboss can. Upgrading to MEGA ARMOR replaces slugga and choppa and gives him a TLShoota. There is no longer an Upgrade path available to the Kombiskorcha.

I dont think you can, as the codex says you must replace the sluga and choppa with mega armor, or previously on the page to replace the sluga with the combi scorcha, since when you take mega armor, yoiu hvae to replace both I dont think you can...but I wouldnt mind if someone did as the RAW is a little funky and not very direct.

Armies I play:

-2500 pts
Mechanicus -1850 pts

Yeah, taking Mega Armour Replaces Both Weapons. Since you have already Replaced the Slugga, you cant replace it again for a Kombi

agreed, I am an avid Ork player, and I do not do this because the unit entry doesn't allow it.

But, if someone else modeled an Ork Mega-armored Warboss in such a way and paid the points for a kombi-weapon, I would have no problem with him playing it.

I wouldn't let it fly no matter how good your model looks. I would let you proxy it as anything you wanted (that is actually allowed by the rules) though.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

This is just like the "shootanob w/ powerclaw" thing from before. Just buy the kombi-skorcha first, then upgrade to mega-armor. Just like they do it in the FAQ. End of story.

Went digging through my old posts, and guess what? I've been hating on mat ward since before it was cool

You either didn't think that through very well, or you don't know how that actually works. When you trade choppa for PK then trade sluggaz and choppaz for shootaz, the nob doesn't have a choppa and therefor does not recieve a shoota. in this case, you would trade slugga for kombi-weapon and then not have it to trade for mega armor, and therefor receive none.
I agree with padixon that if someone did it in a friendly game and paid the points, I'd let them play it, but it is not actually legal.

Ive got a warboss with a kombi skorcha in mega armour, but in game terms its a TL shoota instead.

rules state you must replace slugga and choppa to get the mega armour, thus then having nothing to swap out for the kombi.
shame you cant do it.

Well......that pretty much sucks.
As I understand it says "no" in the actual rules, but I say "stupid" about the actual rules.....

I mean, honestly, all you non-Ork'ers out there, why WOULDNT you want me spending 5pts on a one-shot weapon? That's 1 less Ork Boy Im buying/swamping you with!

Thanks everyone that replied.
