Wanted to test the ork stompa I recently built and painted. Missus picked the orks and I took the Imperial Fists. The points came to a funny total but we went for it - I think actually the orks might have been out pointed a little bit. And yes I know some of the FOC is a little off, but we went for it.

Strategic Assets

As the orks had a titan the fists got two extra assets

1. Orbital Bombard ment - S9 AP2 unlimted range D3

2. Force Field - gives 3+ cover save to all units inc vehicle behind it, any unit behind a single force field generator that it wounded on a six the generator is also destroyed.

1 x Captain - lightning claw & storm shield

1 x Chaplain

5 x Assault Terminators w/ Land Raider - 5 x hammers & shields

5 x Assault Terminators w/ Land Raider - 3 x hammers & 2 x claws

5 x Terminators

1 x Ironclad Dreadnought

10 x Marines w/ Razorback 1 - 1 x meltagun & 1 x rocket launcher - sgt w/ power fist

10 x Marines w/ Razorback 2 - 1 x meltagun & 1 x rocket launcher - sgt w/ power weapon

10 x Marines w/ Razorback 3 - 1 x flamer & 1 x rocket launcher

Orks

1 x Warboss - power klaw, attack squig, eavy armour, cybork body & combi skorcha

1 x Big Mek - shokk attack gun, eavy armour & cybork body

10 x Lootas

7 x Nobz w/ Battlewagon inc Painboy - eavy armour, cybork body, 1 x power klaw, waaagh! banner, sluggas & choppas

20 x Shoota Boyz w/ Battlewagon - 2 x big shootas - Nob w/ boss pole & power klaw

21 x Shoota Boyz - 2 x big shootas - Nob w/ boss pole & power klaw

21 x Shoota Boyz - 2 x rokkits - Nob w/ boss pole & power klaw

6 x Warbikers - Nob w/ power klaw

1 x Stompa



The Captain of the Imperial Fists had relieved the Imperial Guard on garrison at the Hive edge. The Ork hordes were at their strongest else where and the high numbers of the Hammer of the Emperor could hold them at bay. The Fists had sent a unit of scouts beyond the Hive, they found the leader of the Ork invasion, Warboss Buttripper. Buttripper wasn't alone, he had brought his latest toy, a Stompa! The Fists orders were simple, destroy all Orks and do not let the Ork titan enter the hive. The battle soon began at the crashing of the Stompa's foot steps were herd and mobs of Orks appeared in the distance

Deployment

The captain and the mix of assault terminators started inside the land raider and at the side of a administratrum ruin. Razorbacks 1 & 2 started between the administratrum and a basillica ruin, they had split into combat squads and each squad took up position in each ruin. The chaplain and hammer assault terminators started inside the raider also and one side of a manufactorum ruin, razorback 3 took position the other side while the combat squad took position in the manufactorum. The other unit of terminators started in reserve and the ironclad took position in the administratrum.

The orks deployed along the board edge with the stompa in the centre.

Turn 1

Fists rolled to go first and fired the orbital bombardment, a one was rolled for the number of shots. A shoota boy unit was targetted and the scatter dice landed on target and 12 boyz were destroyed by lance fire from orbit. The two land raiders moved out, razorbacks 1 & 2 moved only 6" so still in cover not to take fire from the stompa and to use the heavy bolters to take down shoota boy mobz. Razorback 3 moved out the full movement ready to tackle the battered ork boy mob next turn.

Captain's land raider fired the heavy bolters into a ork mob scoring two kills, razorbacks 1 & 2 fire at the same mob scoring more kills softening them up ready for the next round which the captain and terminators can assault Combat squad 1 fires at the stompa with a krak and misses, combat squad 2 fires scores a hit and weapon destroyed! The deth cannon primary weapon is destroyed - good start for the fists. Combat squad 3 fires at the stompa and fails to score any damage. The chaplains land raider fires the heavy bolters at the lootas in the open scoring three kills.

In the ork turn the mob which took orbital bombardment hit takes a leadership test and passes . All orks move forward inc the stompa, both battlewagons move into cover behind wall structures in case the orks decicde to bail out.

The orks which took hits from the heavy bolters fire two rokkits at the captains land raider, a hit is scored but no damage. The big mek fires up the shokk attack gun with and with a large crack, it scatters only 2" but kills two members of combat squad 2 and scores a immobilised result on razorback 2 - hurrah! The lootas fire but score no kills on the same unit. The stompa fires the gigashoota at combat squad 3 destroying the force field generator protecting them and killing two. It fires all big shootas at combat squad 2 but fails to score any more kills.

"Destroy the Xeno's - for the Emperor!" shouted the captain down the vox as his personal land raider charges forward and the deadly cargo of assault terminators and the captain charge down the ramp and into the green tide

Turn 2

The captain's land raider charges forward towards the ork mob previously fired on. The ironclad comes out of the administratrum ruin and heads towards the stompa. Razorback 1 holds position. The chaplain and hammer terminators disembark from the land raider and move towards the warbikers. The squad from razorback 3 disembarks and the razorback moves 6" and gives cover to the squad, but exposes it weaker side to the orks. The foot slogging terminators make the reserve roll and teleport onto the board behind the stompa.

In the shooting phase the captain's land raider targets its lascannon at the ork battlewagon carrying the boyz, the machine spirit fails the blast doesn't even scratch the paint work. The ironclad fires its meltagun and rolls a additional D6 as within 6" but fails to hit even at close range! The two rocket launcher combat squads fire at the stompa and both fail to score any damage. The remains of combat squad 3 had lost the rocket launcher marine in the previous round, they roll a 2 to move through terrain as they was on the upper level of the ruin and out of range to shoot. Razorback 3 fires at the battered ork mob while its occupants fire at the bikers and score no wounds. The foot slogging terminators fire at the lootas and score four kills. The chaplain's land raider fires all weapons at the lootas and kills them all except for the big mek, which takes a wound. A rocket from combat squad 2 manages to claim the first structure point on the stompa

In assault the captain and the terminators disembark from the land raider, a short and brutal battle sees 12 orks slayed and all fists fine and dandy. The orks fail the morale test even after a re-roll thanks to the boss pole and fall back 7". The chaplain and the hammer terminators charge the warbikers, thanks to the re-rolls to hit to the chaplain all bikers are smashed into gore and the terminators take no wounds. The ironclad charges the stompa and only scores one hit and fails to score any damage! The stompa strikes back with a vengenace, and scores all four hits! Though the ironclad is strong and suffers two weapon destroyed results and crew stunned! The meltagun and hammer are lost and luckily to the extra armour is only crew shaken!

The warboss and nobz disembark from the battlewagon and move into range of the hammer terminators and chaplain. The battlewagon carrying the boyz charges forward towards combat squad 1's position and disembark ready to give um' 'ell lol. The mob battered by the captain and terminators fails the morale test and flees off the board!

"Give dem 'ell ladz" roared Nob Pikey as he snapped his power klaw as his lad fired at the imperial fists

The warboss burns the termintors with the combi skorcha with fire from the nobz but no kills are scored. The surviving mob close by fires on the terminators and scores no kills either. The big mek fires at the foot slogging terminators, the shokk attack scatters and hits dust. The boyz mob which bailed out the wagon fire on combat squad 1 and wipe them out with mass shoota fire.

The warboss and nobz charge the chaplain and terminators, each side scores one kill. The ironclad manages to score a immobilised result on the stompa which cuts into the ironclad return scoring a weapon destroyed result (storm bolter lost) and crew stunned.

Turn 3

The mob which had just wiped out combat squad 1 is now in real trouble, the squads from razorback 1 & 2 disembark and the captain's land raider targets them as the captain and assault terminators disembark (re-imbarked when consolidated) and move towards them.

Combat squads 1 & 2 fire on the ork boyz blasting them to pieces with meltagun fire and rapid fire from the bolters. The captain's land raider fires blowing boyz out their boots from lascannon fire and the remaining rocket launcher from combat squad 2 in the basilica ruin fires a krak into the boyz along with supporting bolter fire. The chaplain's land raider targets the big mek and blows him out of his boots with lascannon fire, it splits targets and fires the heavy bolter into the heavly depleted shoota mob close to the warboss. The squad ni cover in the manufactorum ruin fire long range onto the low numbered shoota mob along with the other half of the same squad close by and wipe the unit out.

In assault, the captain and terminators charge the shoota boy mob which had just been raped by gun fire and mob them up and destroy the entire lot. The foot slogging terminators charge the stompa and score two's sixs to pentrate and rolls two six's again to claim two structure points! The chaplain takes a wound in combat and one terminator is torn to pieces by the warbosses power klaw, though two nobz are slayed making in a draw, again.

No movement nor shooting is done in the ork turn - they are all scraping in assault!

The warboss rips two terminators to pieces with his power klaw and the chaplain is battered to death by fierce amount of hits from the bosses. nob mob. The two remaining terminators fall back and are ready to assault next turn, though two nobz were killed. The stompa finally manages to destroy the ironclad after scoring two destroyed results on the vehicle chart, a great hero of the imperial fists is slayed.

Turn 4

The captain and terminators had consolidated in the previous turn back into the land raider, the raider moves towards the stompa and they bail out. The tactical squad with the power fist moves towards the stompa.

The chaplain's land raider fires on the warbosses battlewagon and blows it up - only the stompa, warboss and two nobz remain of the orks. The two combat squads from razorback 3 and the other unit taking cover in the manufactorum fire on the warboss along with the razorback. The mighty warboss fails to a torrent of fire and is slayed.

In assault both terminator squads fail to claim the stompas last structure point :( .The stompa uses the stomp! attack and kills three terminators from the captain's terminator unit.

WINNER = Imperial Fists!

Good game, stompa is tougher than I thought. Good job the deth cannon was taken out and early and the model of the match has to be the ironclad. It tied the stompa up for so long and should have be taken out ages ago. If it wasn't for the ironclad things could have gone a very different way with the high amount of the fire power the stompa has. Really good game, something different for once with the assets and the stompa.

I'm guessing you meant 6's to pen and 5's for the structure point, because a 6 on the damage result table is Chain Reaction! which wouldve probably seen something like a huge explosion happen.

still, nice report. Sounds like it was a lot of fun.

Sorry guys we may have made some mistakes here because I do not own a apocalypse book. Though I have managed to acquire a copy and it doesn't mention that super heavy walkers cannot be tied up in combat, unless I'm missing something?

Shadowrocket, can you explain what you mean 6's to pen and 5's to glance - what weapon are you refering to?

The 6's penetrate, but on the Apoc Super Heavy damage table, it says a 5 (after pen results) removes a structure point, whereas a 6 causes a chain reaction (leading to the explosion table)

Wasn't referring to a specific weapon, but the damage result tables in the Apoc rulebook.

It doesn't say superheavy walkers can't be tied up in combat.

It says gargantuan creatures can't be tied up in combat, then says that superheavy walkers follow the rules for gargantuan creatures when in close combat.
