Got bored today and decided to paint up something, ended up painting one of the black reach termies, but for salamanders.
It will be based later on when i get more time, just wanted C&C on this.
Also, would this be good enough for tabletop standards?

I know the barrel hasnt been drilled and its still covered in mould lines
its a test mini.

Got my cam back so hopefully the pics are better than they have been

Thats way too light for Salamanders, it looks more Sons of Medusa... Although the technique is sound.

bleh, salamanders are too dark
and my cam has managed to light them up a bit (they are a tad darker)

however, i can fix it pretty easily since the way i painted the model only took me 15 mins lol

I love the green effect...mind telling me how you got it and what colors you used? I plan to use the dshades in a similar way. Thanks!

I think it's a bit bright for sallies, and that the black could use a highlight, but lookin' good. Freehanding on the flames looks clean, but one thing - the yellow should be on the bottom, as it's the hotter part of the fire.

Wow JD it looks great o_o i mean it.

Though on the power fist for some reason the wash doesnt seem as smooth as the rest of the body.

Btw bright green is perfect , ( real salamanders are pretty bright / warning colored )

I like it. As mentioned, it's a tad bright for Salamanders - after reading GD's Sons of Medusa thread that was the first thing that popped into my head. There's no mould lines that I can see, which is +10 points
The flames should maybe be a little thicker if you're repainting them; they resemble tendrils as they are right now.
Also, maybe you should pick out the helm with a white or light bone colour to indicate vet status as per marine style.

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

Thanks for all the comments, ill try a 2nd test model later once i get back, ill try and make it darker for you all

flames: i wanted to make them thin, i just dislike the way the chunky flames look.

Warlord: the green was only a quick job, just heavily watered down dark angels green, then washes it over the model, then again to make it darker (i think ill go for a 3rd wash this time)

cracker: read my 1st post mate
didnt bother with barrels and lines since it was only a test model (wont be having shooty termies in my list)

Mould lines: see the 3rd pic, that shows them badly on the leg

The paint job is fine. Though I would give white helmets though

Ok, change time
im tempted to do a few changes.

1: another green wash to darken them slightly.

2: the black areas will be the same colour as the shield on the arm/chest.

3: helmet colour, do i go with white or orange?
white: black shading or a very light-ish green?
orange: a very neutral or pastel orange, or a very typical lizard orange?

thinking about making a sub chapter to sallies rather than following them 100%

also, with this scheme (and a few changes) i should be able to knock out a tac squad in 2 hours at the most, so i should be able to get a fully painted army finished in around 2 weeks (depending on how the wash effect works on flat surfaces of vehicles)

Try a Devlan mud wash followed by the green wash. Don't like the white eyes either
