Subject: Can a Independent Character leave a squad that disembarks a Drop Pod?

Okay you have 10 models in a Drop Pod; along with a Librarian attached. The Drop Pod is large enough that you can Combat Squad from the Drop Pod into two 5 man squads along with place the librarian outside of 2 inches of either of those squads. My question is can you do this?
How about two independent characters joining each other as a mega or whatever unit; say a space marine captain and Librarian. Etc...

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated. |

I don't know of any exception banning the first action.
The second question is a yes.

BGB pg 67 wrote:They can also disembark separately by either the unit or the characters disembarking while the others remain onboard, or even disembarking at the same time using different access points (but they must end their move more than 2" away from each other).
So by the rules you could but their might be some mathmatical/geometric reason you can't get deploy the two combat squads and keep the IC 2" from either unit.
BGB pg 48 wrote:Independent characters are allowed to join other units. They cannot, however, join vehicle squadrons (see the Vehicles section) and units that always consist of a single model (like most vehicles and monstrous creatures). They can join other independent characters though, to form a powerful multi-character unit!
So yes.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away." |

I thought you could I just wasnt sure; its a rare instance I just want my Term Librarian w/ Vortex to be able to target a different target if I need and the 2 5 man fire at something else.

winterman summed it up well
multi character units work well, especially if its lemates, dante and 10 death company all with jump packs
just a warning though, pie plates are a pain in the ass when they hit 2 characters at the same time.
its pretty much giving away kill points in some cases.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

I dont know how different this is but if an IC joins an outflanking unit they cant detach till the following turn they arrive. Like i said may be comparing apples to oranges but thought i would put it out there

I thought you could not combat squad a unit once it was in a drop pod. I thought you had to declare that before you put them in reserve?

There is a special rule for drop pod deployment and combat squad. Essentially it CAN be done.
