Any help would be appreciated. Todays attempts at search have been fruitless. Thick (like at least 2") solid foam that can be carved easily, you all know the stuff. I've come across small portions occasionally but would like to cover a 2"x3" board, with layers.

This is obviously a fundamental ingredient in portable scenery making, so if anyone knows an online store or generally good source (I'm going to check out a packaging/storage outlet I guess) let me know.

Not sure in AU but this product is generally found in home improvement stores in the states.

It comes in a variety of thicknesses. In cooler climates you can find up to 2". In warmer climes down to 1/2 inch. It comes in 4 ft x 8 ft sheets. So 1 sheet is a ton of terrain building but it isn't exactly an easy item to order online for shipping due to size.

Have you checked a local lumber yard or places that sell sheet rock/drywall. again. construction styles may vary in the two countries and it isn't a product that is used or available if you live in a hot climate.

My partner works at just such a store, I just haven't had time to pick through the warehouse recently. I hope so, because I can use a 20% discount to good effect.

My local GW store use loft insualtion foam (they just rip the shiny silver coating off it), this can be carved quite easily I believe.

I think that might be called Gyprock over here. I'd go with the insulation foam. Drywall is basically a type of Plasterboard is it? Because that's what Gyprock is.

What the hell are you on about?

There is a certain type of easily malleable plastic-covered insulation foam that I encounter often enough, but it's too soft for what I'm trying to do. I just dropped my partner at work and forgot to go in again.
I'm also going to bump my FLGS today, since they've always got an extremely ample supply of terrain and projects going on out the back.

For most of my terrain I've used common white expanded polystyrene foam, covered with a thin coat of plaster filler.

I have used extruded blue foam from Insulation Industries in Newcastle (NSW) but they are my local mob.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I found a whole sheet of it once at a contruction site dumpster. It is about 2.5 inches think dense simular to the gardening block foam. My dad has said it is available at home depot and simular stores. It is for sound or heat insulation for homes and such. Not sure how much a sheet is though. Probably 40ish.

Obviously I don't what Drywall is XD
I use some boxes made from foam, but the type that has really small bubbles in it, that seems to be strong enough for it.

More like $10ish. The stuff is ridiculously cheap and you probably won't need more than one sheet for a full gaming table worth of terrain unless you're taking on a really big project.
