Question.... if i purchase an immolator for my sisters as a dedicated transport does it still take up a heavy support slot? Obviously not for the troops but for Celestians and the fast attack ones i forgot what they are called (not the seraphim). I am working on painting up an army so i won't be playing sisters for a couple months but just wanted to know. Thanks.

No, of course not. If it's a dedicated transport, then it don't take up a slot. Period. Good to see someone doing SoB though, =)

I have played a lot of armies. I am a true DE player. Space Marines bore me so getting rid of them. I got to borrow a buddies SOB in a tournament a couple weeks back took fourth almost won but being a DE player i forgot i can't run and assault with everyone and overlooked the faith to regroup...... so i lost to the tournament winner by 4 inches. Oh well i like the look and story of sisters. I also think transported troops work wonders. How i run my DE so lets upgrade the front and side armor and get a space marine save haha

I have to admit, I didn't warm up really quickly to Dominions, but as I was building my army size up, I decided to field one of my Rhinos and some sisters as Dominions a few games, figuring they had to work somehow.

It was when I stopped trying to pad the numbers to give the special weapons ablative wounds that it finally clicked. Now, I really love fielding them in 6-woman Immolators, loaded up with meltaguns.

One observation about Immolators, though -- unless you field Exorcists, expect them to be serious bullet magnets. I find that if I only offer one Immolator for my opponent to shoot at, I never get a chance to fire with it, so don't bother with weapon/ammo upgrades. Granted, it's a nice way to ensure my troops' Rhinos get by a turn or two unscathed...

Oh.. and I love my Holy Promethium, let me tell you.

Yeah, I quickly came to that conclusion. It's been something I've noticed as I've slowly expanded my army size as a new player.

I am working towards an Immolator Spam army.. just about every unit is either in an Immolator, doesn't use it (seraphim), or is an Exorcist.

Kill point game sucketh.. but against horde.. yowza!

So basically fire magnets. I don't plan on using exorcists. But thought about dominions and celestians in immolators. I don't like the idea of one weapon vehicles. So Melta guns will have to do.

Oh, don't get me wrong: their status as fire magnets (in an exorcist-less game) shouldn't put you off from taking them. One for your celestians or HQ+retinue, one or two for dominions squads, and maybe one for another squad of celestians, depending on your army composition, and you can field several, at which point the ones that don't get the bulk of the fire against them get to be devastatingly effective, and your rhinos go unscathed, delivering your highly effective troops reliably.

Even when I ran (and occasionally still run) just 1 immolator, it got my squad where I wanted it to go pretty effectively.

Sounds good if I can recall I was planning on running around 7 vehicles just not sure which way to go. Smaller squads in Immolators or the larger ones in Rhinos.

The trouble with Dominions in Rhinos is that they don't score. Since they need to get close to do their jobs and are likely to get butchered in melee as a result, I really don't think that the points for ablative wounds is worth giving up the gun on the tank. If they do live, you have a few girls running around who can only contest, when those same bodies could be in scoring units.
It might not make a great deal of difference, but I personally prefer my Dominions in EZ Bake form, with flamers and maybe one melta in a Flame Immolator.

Just on the subject of Immolators, could you use - say - a Multi-Melta and a Flamer on the turret.

No, you cannot split the weapons; you can only take 2 heavy flamers, 2 heavy bolters, or 2 multi-meltas for the turret weapon, all of which count as twin linked. However, nothing stops you from modeling up an Immolator with one of each weapon if you wanted to; you just need your opponents permission actually field the thing!

I usually run squads of five( 2 melta and two flamer Vet. sis superior w/ power weapon) with an attached priest w/power weapon and throw them in an immolator. Jump out and toast tank or roast unit then if you need to following turn you can roast and then charge(you have to) and get to rereoll those power weapon attacks.

As for immolators being bullet magnets I find that the multiple penitent engines and "switched on"arcos draw the fire off the immolators nicely...

Im probably a minority in the world of sister players...i do not use exorcists....Cannoness with retinue then as many sister squads in immolators as i can fit into the list (mixing up the immolators weapons) with Arco-flagenents or repentia running ahead to of them....Thats the way to play sisters.....

How do you take an Immolator with a Battle Sister squad? A regular Sisters squad is a minimum of 10 Sisters, and they only have access to Rhinos (and Repressors). Celestians, Dominions, and Retributers may take Immolators, but only if they number 6 or less in squad sizes. Outside of those, you can get up to 3 Immolators if you waste your heavy slots on them.
