First off all i wasnt sure which forum to put this in so apologies if its in the wrong one.
So, i was looking through my O&G army book, and i looked at the giant and it didnt seem very good to me, Its a hefty 200 odd points (205 i think), thats alot in a O&G army, you could buy tens of orcs or goblins for that, and as far as i can see it only has a few ways of killing things, some it picks one up and eats it, sure its good on expensive characters (a wierd picture of Thorgrim Grudgebearer being lifted up and eaten by a Giant spings to mind, even though that is impossible) but its rubbish against standard troops it only kills one andd that is normally only 6-10 points. The only decent ones seem to be 'fall over' and 'swing club' and the chances of getting them are low. So it does seem kinda rubbish for 205 pts
Am i missing something???

It has it's uses. It can tie stuff up, eat characters, scare units away, draw fire and move fairly fast... The best one was the chaos giant that was a mutant monstrosity and had a better chance of falling where you wanted it(beasts still might use this one). No one really wants to mess around with a giant because even if they beat there's a chance that half the unit will die if it falls on them. It's not like an uber unit killer, but there are a lot of ways for it to just win combat- yell, jump, fall.

Its worth its points in orkish fun.
watching a giant fall on a slann and kill him (it was lord kroak, over 1,000 point model lol)
that was amusing, however, giants do work well for supporting other units or fighting characters (smaller ones) and elite units.
they can also slow down anything in thier way.
against monsters they tend to do well.

Hey,
The O&G giant is a very good choice IMO. If you look at the chart, it's chances are pretty good:
1- you win combat with a -2 modifier to them. (this is great)
2- 2d6 strength 6 hits. (this is great)just dont roll a one, lol.
3- pick up....this one sucks....
4-6 - d6 strength 6. (good)
Basically, i hope that I don't roll a 3 because that one is not that good. Otherwise, all of the other choices are great. If you lose a combat, you have stubbon 10 going for you. The terror doesn't hurt either. The only problem I have with the giant is it's toughness. I've always complained that giants should have either T6 or some kind of Tough Skin save.
With the giants' quick movement, you can set him up into favorable positions. Stay away from units with great weapons and try to avoid poison missiles. I use one the WoC book and normally try to keep a Regeneration spell on him to give him a save. I'm a fan of the giant. I think it's a good investment in the O&G army. good luck.

ork had some great points there.
and i do agree that he needs better stats or a save.
pick up and ...... can also come in hands, if you get to throw the model at another unit its also amusing.
keep away from any warmachine thats not a rock thrower of some sort.
bolt throwers and bad news.
cannons can mean a dead giant in 1 shot, so keep away from them at all costs. (giants cant catch cannonballs very well)

I used my slavegiant (yeah, I know...) twice.
First time, against TK, it went one on one with the bone giant. Three turns in a row, it was headbutting the bone giant, never taking a hit in return. I was picturing a pro wrestler staggering around waiting to receive a flying dropkick. The game ended before any conclusion.
The second time, it charged my son's goblins. It tripped and fell -- the wrong way, of course. The gobbos were hacking away at it. Of course, after losing by several hits, the lack of stubbornness came in and the slavegiant became a year's supply of goblin Alpo.
fun times...

Giants rule.
However note I used the plural.
1 Giant is a massive target and will be shot/magiced/charged by heavy cav into oblivion.
However 2 giants tag teaming down a flank will put the enemy's line into anarchy as he tries to readjust for the hammer that is coming.
At the last tournament I ran a unit of 8 squig hoppers and 2 giants down a flank, next tourney it will be 2 units of squig hoppers and 2 giants.
By turn 2-3 I'm in combat and turn 3-4 I've smashed through to the enemy back line and shenanigans ensue.
One annoying thing though is when you charge both giants into 1 enemy unit and smash away with the first, then yell and bawl with the 2nd. :(
Stubborn is fantastic.
Falling down is hillarious.
Terror = win
They fit perfectly in an O&G army.
Beasts giants are still the best thanks to mutant monstrosity and choosing where to fall, but a WOC Slaaneshi giant is only just behind. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also no animosity so reliable in an O&G army

Slaanesh Giants are really nice when you have them on your side. The last time I faced one I had my HE so its ability was negated, but I would have been in serious trouble otherways.

The ASF is brilliant on a giant, but makes it an even bigger target for shooting.
If I ever get around to doing a WOC army 2 slaaneshi giants will be my first selection, then knights.

I am considering taking it, but the list that I am working on is mainly Nugle and Khorne. I've considered mixing in some Slaneesh on my Marauders, but if I don't do that then it would feel a little out of place.

I just started playing WoC and i ordered my giant. Im tempted to go slan. b/c of the points and goes first is amazing but, considering nurgle also...but not sure. I have so far won all my games under 2k points and giants speed suits well with my Calvary movement. Im looking into converting my giant into a slaneesh woman giant ...not sure if they go brazilian or landing strip lol.
