Eh, he's dead.

If he wasn't, wouldn't he keep trying to attack the Empire?

Yip he did.

In Steven Savile's novel retribution,he(Mannfred I mean)gets his hand which has the von Carstein ring on it chewed off by Jerek(another vampire)and then Martin the Elector count of Stirland splits his head in two with his runefang.

I loved that book, espically when Dietrch Jager(if I rember the name right)has a Spatan moment and says,"good we fight our battle in the shade.",he says this as a horde of bats black out the sun.

In an old Dwarf army book (4th ed), there was a short story about Gotrek and Felix. They were trying to rescue a young maiden that had been kidnapped by a necromancer. The necromancer wanted to use the girl in a ritual to re-awaken Manfred. Gotrek killed the necromancer, but by doing this he completed the ritual and Manfred was once again "alive".
In the mild wind of Chaos campaign, Manfred rode out with a huge undead army to join the battles.

So my guess he isnt dead

Yeah, the storm of Chaos thing kinda showed the world that Manfred was alive and kicking. The reason he doesn't attack the Empire is becasue they have the Liber Mortis and one of the Books of Nagash. It was the problem he faced before. They can un-summon his minions. Makes it hard to win. So he is building his strength and biding his time, like a good villian should. I think it would rock if they allowed him to become an Elector Count. But its just me.

Big enough to have a fall down template. Yup, that's me!

It would rock, but Martin of Stirland is also the Elector of Sylvania. Now thinking of it he might be alive,in Steven Saviles afore mentioned book,Skellan sort of claims that Mannfred is the greatest of the vampire counts, that he planned the fall of Vlad and even the madness of Konrad.I still think Vlad is the best of 'em all,he will be back just you wait and see. Then he'll get you and you're little dog to.

I'm slowly plowing through the Vampire Trilogy. Still stuck in the first book. Keep getting distracted by other stuff. :(

Vlad's still buried in that Empire town underneath the holy guy that killed him so he's probably not coming back. I think Manfred's still around 'cause a headshot wouldn't take him out...and he's crafty.

Well maybe, maybe not.Vlad was a very powerful vampire lord, well accually I just hope he comes back I think he is uber cool.

As for Mannfred you just might be right they cleaved his head in two but never found his body so maybe he slunk off somewhere to heal. The VC army book does say there are rumours of him living in the von carstein family castle in sylvania.
