Once again, please pardon me if this has already been answered somewhere else; I searched around, but couldn't find a thread about it.
...or maybe the answer's too obvious for a thread .

Anyway. The Bigbomm on a Deffkopter scatters d6". Does that mean it ALWAYS scatters, or do I still get you roll the scatter die to see if I get a direct hit?

Thanks for yall's patience.

No, it means you roll a scatter die and see ifi it hits. It DOES mean it overrides the BRB rules for scatter, meaning at worst it scatters 4" away, not up to 10"

Yes it says it scatters 1d6 in it does not say don't subtract your ballistic skill.

Lol. The rules also don't say I can't burn all your models with Lighter Fluid and claim a Win. Nor do they not say I can't just kick you in the nuts and say it's a draw.

The rules say what you CAN do, not what you can't do. In this case, they tell you you CAN place the Marker and then Scatter d6". It totaly replaces the Blast rules, so you do not get to reduce it by your BS skill.

You know if we want to go down the road of it must be part of the blast rules RAW throws up a nasty surprise.

Place the large blast template with the central hole on a model that the deffkoota has passed over during its movement phase. the big bomb scatters d6" and is resolved with str4 and ap 5

Resolved ok how do we resolve a blast weapon? template is all ready placed and in range ... working down, oh we need to scatter it 2d6" -BS ... finally any model touching the template is hit

We've still got Waaaaaaagh! to stir things up, though.

Now...
Anyone care to post the text for someone who DOESN'T have a codex with him? Thanks in advance.

Bigbo...+++=][+++ INTERCEPTED BY THE ORDO COPYRIGHTUS+++=][=+++

In Short, get the book, read the rules there, don't ask for us to give them to you.

Incidentally, a Bigbomb will always Scatter 1d6" if you don't roll a hit, because it follows its own special rules, not the Blast Rules.

fail

You can...

Well... Let's try that again...

Someone who gives a rip about HELPING people, other than trying to show off how "witty" and insulting he can be is allowed to post small bits of rule info, so long as it's not enough that the person can get away without having the codex.

People post rules all the time... I'd imagine you've even done it yourself in defending your stand on how a rule should be interpreted.

Funny how the ORDO COPYRIGHTUS never interfered when it was in YOUR interest.

Actually... more sad than funny.

Actualy, the Ordo Copyrightus has very Strict Criteria about the posting of rules.

The posting of rules for the purposes of rules discussions is acceptable.
The posting of rules because of :"Anyone care to post the text for someone who DOESN'T have a codex with him? Thanks in advance. " is unnaceptable

Unless, of course, it's for the purpose of a RULES DISCUSSION which ::gasp:: it WAS.

Now that I have the codex at hand...

Bigbomm: Once per game, a Deffkopta with a Bigbomm may make a special attack, even if it has turbo boosted that turn. Place the large blast template with the central hole on a model that the Deffkopta has passed over during its Movement phase. The Bogbomm scatters D6" and is resolved with Strength 4 and AP 5.

Wow.
That wasn't hard at all... and the "Ordo Copyrightus" didn't stick their noses in.
Hmm.

Back to the discussion at hand...
While I'm surprised that it hasn't been FAQed or Errata'ed either way, my opinion is that strict RAW means that it does not reduce scatter by BS.
Personally, I feel that the scatter distance was only specified so that the player knew how many dice to roll for scatter and NOT to exclude the reduction of scatter for BS, but the exclusion of descriptive verbiage leaves me with only one fair conclusion; Full d6 scatter (though this is NOT how I will play in personal "house rules" games, where our concensus on RAI wins over strict RAW).

No, it was not. Your request was:

Why does it need to be FAQ'd or Erreta'd? Are you really unable to read it? It's very, very clear. Also, nobody cares how you will play it in your own Game of Househammer 40k, but in Warhammer 40k, the Bigbomb does scatter a full D6", always has, and always will (until a New Ork Codex is Released)

Now, to be fair, I have kept my temper in check in this thread and tried to be helpful, but your tone and manner are highly inappropriate. I bid you a good day and have pity for any of your opponents.

As long as people don't post large swathes of the rules (especially along with points values so people can avoid purchasing the codex/rulebook) we aren't going to worry about GW noticing the odd bit of rules text posted in our forums.

With that said, I think this thread has gotten nicely out of control and is being locked.
