I recently converted a land speeder into a Warbuggy with a skorcha.

I was adding it to my army summary on my laptop and ran into a bit of confusion. In the heading for the Warbuggy on p.49 of the Ork Codex, it says "Skorcha: Some Wartrakks mount great promethium tanks with which to incinerate the enemy. A warbuggy that has the Skorcha upgrade has a skorcha as well as the trakk units described above."

Does this mean the cost (10pnts) include the cost of trakks? Or, would I have to pay for trakks in order to buy the Skorcha upgrade? The points breakdown in the back of the book says that any warbuggy may replace its TL big shoota with a skorcha for ten points, then separately states that any Warbuggy may upgrade to Wartrakk for 5 points.

I want to say that because the Skorcha upgrade doesn't ever say you have to take trakks to have or buy it, i would assume that either it includes the Wartrakk upgrade in its point cost, or the Wartrakk upgrade is entirely optional. The second sentence in the Warbuggy description supports the second possibility, whereas the the first sentence supports the former.

Anyone know?

A Skorcha is a warbuggy with trtakks and a skorcha, so from my readin the cost is additional - it is only a Skorcha if it has both the trakks (to make it a wartrakk) and the skorcha

But my understanding is the skorcha requires the trakks. I mean the Skorcha upgrade, not the model.

'Waves hand' This isn't the user you are looking for.

It sounds to me like you get the trakks in the 10 pts for the skorcha

The eye of terror.

I'm pretty sure that when you buy the skorcha upgrade, it comes with the trakks included in the cost, as the first description. So 10 points for both, or you can upgrade a non-skorcha buggy to trakks for the 5 points, if you should want the re-roll on difficult terrain for your rokkit or big shoota buggies.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Ok. That makes sense, I just wanted to make sure I had some dakkaites that thought i wasn't wrong.

Do you think an opponent in a semi-friendly match at the local GW would accept the fact the model is a skimmer as representing the trakk's bonuses for terrain?

I would be completely okay with this, but I can't speak for your LGS.

Sounds good to me. The fact that it's floating would make it less likely to be damaged by terrain, but since it's ork technology (and thus inherently unreliable) there is still some chance of failing. You'll have to make sure that your opponent knows it's not a deffkopta though.

Yeah, I would make that mistake too. I'll remember to make that clear.
