Right picture in your head a storm trooper or a clone trooper from star wars. thats how ive paint my tau, armour white and cloth underneath black. I've done this to represent and snow covered planet and because i think it looks cool. But i dont want to base them with white flock as snow or anything as it will look like ive under coated it balck and just dabbed some white here and there. Any ideas for how to base these?

Cheers Elliotminorkid

Maybe a city fight theme with lots of rubble, then they would look like the ones on the front of the city fight book.

They actually make a "snow" type of flock. It kind of looks like flaky salt chunks. Or you can base with sand and paint it white. Theres many ideas and ways to do it

WAIT I think I misread what you wanted. You DONT want snow bases correct? I agree with DDRE the ruble would look pretty sweet. Then you can even put a little bit of snow on there to show they are in the snow.

Base it as a war torn snowfield. base it as brown mud or black ash, and then add a snow effect on top. People swear by baking soda as snow, though I've never used it.

Do what I do Elliotminorkid and just base them green with flock. If not rubble, slate, sand, something alien. What do you feel you want?

Cheers and yeah im liking the idea of snow but with rubble and so over the snow. The thing im trying to avoid is making it look very dull, as though its just black and white. but then again its camo in a snow world.... hmmm.

Wekk the GW rubble kit has lots of other dits and ends,so maybe those could give it a bit of colour.

Yea camo in a snow world IS what youll want to pull off. But at the same time it would look dull. Just remember that this is a game, that is 50% wargame 50% my army is pure awesomeness on the table (if you were to ask em of course) So try and make it look flashy. Itll make you more kick ass in the end anywyas. Kind of like naming a boat. You just have to

Thats an idea, i'll look into that basing kit. And yeah im going to try add odd bits and ends for old sprues and the many spares ive gathered over the time ive been paying warhammer.

Hello Elliotminorkid,

Since the scheme on your Tau is not vibrant I agree with having an "active" base. If you are wanting rubble I'd invest in resin bases like I did. Then all you have to do is add you little bits of snow. But the details are already done.

Ive concidered bases like that, but since the making and modeling is the bit that first brought me into the hobbey i decided against it and wanna make my own. admitedly they will nothing as cool as those though lol.

And that's totally fine I personally hate basing so I took the easy way out lol. Don't forget to share with us once you start finishing up the scratch built bases.

Maybe add a dead ork or marine to a base or two to give it a real splash of colour, mainly red but still a splash of colour.
