Ok, so this is actually a list I'm working on for a friend of mine. We both want to play apocalypse and often play 40k games of 3000pts. However he isn't the best at building mean lists. So I thought I'd write one and show him the potential of apocalypse. So its a fairly brutal build, but he'll be playing me so theres no problems of cheese or unfairness. So here goes.

So of course the strategic asset taken will be Holy War from the apocalypse reloaded book. The sisters form the first wave. As soon as any get into no mans land or my deployment zone they have rage and relentless. Any without a banner stay within 12" of one that does and they are all fearless. And with Vulkan on side all meltas/flamers and twin linked. The babes in ceramite also have 12 faith points. So the Celestians proceed to thin out my infantry and smash any armour. The Exorcists sit in fire lanes and play their hymns. The inquisitor stays out of sight and frusterates my sorcerers.
The small Initiate units follow close on the heels of the celestians using them as a screen and chew on my crunchy infantry. The hqs and larger initiate units form a reserve to exploit any holes. And of course the boys from deathknell do what they do best, eat a section of my army.
Vulkan stays in reserve with a large initiate unit, while the techmarine tends to the exorcists as needed. The devestators stay by the exorcists to discourage me from getting to close.
I realize this is a lot of detail for a list I'm crafting for an opponent, but the idea is everything has its assigned role and each is very good at it. Its not only incredibely mean, but incredibely fluffy.
For my own army I plan of continuing with the theme and going very chaos. Several Thousand Son units. Maybe a small slaughterfiend bloodpack. I also thought I'd try the Hounds of Huron after reading Heros of the Space Marines. A tide of spawn might be fun too. I'm also picturing a firebase around a Chaos Altar made of Thousand Sons, Plague Marines and Fateweaver. No superheavies though. Can't let things get out of hand.
What do you think?
