My name's Donovan. I have been trolling the boards for the last month and decided to join to give my two cents on topics. I have been collecting GW 40K since 88. I have only been playing since the late 90's. I got into it because of the fluff on Space Marines and the artwork from the Rogue Trader box set. I only deal with 40k scale products because I have A LOT of money tied up in the product and do not like to have multiple hobbies. Some people have called me a rules lawyer because of my strict adherance to the printed rules. I think of it as playing on the same terms as everyone else. Some folks look at gaming like baking, you can fudge some things and still get a good result. I think of it as biochemistry, if you fudge a few things, someone is probably going to have a bad day. I must not annoy too many people though since I normally win best sportsmanship at tournaments. Either that or people really LOVE kicking my face in. Maybe both?

I love the fluff even though the writers don't seem to play the actual game but I can look past that. I love the tutorials and WIPs on this site. I have been very inspired by the work posted. Maybe if I ever finish an army I will post some photos. As of yet I have owned 2000pts of the following armies with moderate to excellent success in tournaments.

4th Edition
Lysander Wing
Nidzilla
Dark Eldar
Salamanders
Black Templars

5th Edition
Soul Drinkers (Played using Black Templar rules. 32 Terminators with two 5-man squads of troops. This army SUCKS but has nice fluff behind it. I have been known to win with it if someone takes them for granted.)
Elysian Drop Troops (This is another army that is very hard to win with but it looks sexy. WIP)

Good to be a part of the global group. Maybe I will be able to arrange a game or two with some folks over the pond when I visit in August and October.

Seconded. Trolling is what I do, when I'm not going straight for the jugular. Avoid posting blurry pics of spectacularly badly painted miniatures or quoting the bible and you'll probably be just fine.

See now that's why try to "lurk" on boards more. I am still learning the vernacular. I am also ignorant in leet speach and chatroom acronyms. Someday I hope to learn it all. Thanks for the heads up.

Nah, internet vernacular is for losers. Don't bother with 'leet' - personally, I never use chacronyms.
