Yeah, this just looks kinda boring and would be horrendous to play, especially considering... well, everything. May as well nix this thread because all that is just horrible and a time waste.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Come come now, Cannoness. Surely you've forgotten how the movie guard actually work: These are the meaningless drones, which means it's time for...

Movie Commissar:
75 points
WS:5 BS:5 S:4 T:5 W:2 I:4 A:3 Ld:10 Sv:4+

Wargear:Bolt Pistol, Sword of Power

Special Rules: The Emperor's Will, Until Duty Ends,

Bolt Pistol: As in Codex: Movie Marine

Sword of power: This close combat weapon ignores armor saves, and gives the Commissar a +1 strength.

The Emperor's Will: If a unit attached to a Movie Commissar would fail a morale test, instead remove d6 non-Commissar model from play. The unit passes the morale test. The Commissar may also execute d6 models to give the unit Furious charge for the assault phase.

Until Duty Ends: The Commissar refuses to die until the battle is won. Any time a Movie commissar would be killed, roll a d6. On a 3+, he returns to life, with one rule, gaining the Furious Charge and Rage USRs.

May take a Chainsword (as in Codex: Movie Marines) for +15 points.

I'd also recommend making Normal guardsmen Without NUmber as well.

Good suggestion, added the updated Commissar Cost, as well as giving Guardsmen the option to have Without Number.

Oh, come on, we totally need a tank squadron rule. How many points for a single Russ? 40?

Can we get some fluffy movie orks?

Thing about movie Orks is:
a.) they come in enormous swarms.
b.) individually they are stronger than any human.
That makes them very difficult to portray in the fluff, if you make them more powerful individually, you will have to make them cost more, so there will be less models on the board, if you make them cost less, you will have to weaken them individually.

And as far as tanks go, I think codex tanks are ok compared to these guardsmen. A single leman russ worth 150 scripts? Definetely.

Shin has a point though- the IG, Tau, and Nids are kinda the standard by which we compare movie SM, CSM, Elfdar, Necron to. These fluff-wise uber-badazzez need someone to kill in droves.

Do you mean the ones with lasguns that can blow off a marine's head and destroy dreadnoughts?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Oh he fixed that eventually Cheese, the last book SM were in they had trouble fighting against them.

I don't remember the lasgun kill a Dread, unless that was when Mkoll fought on and did some funky jump on it and shoot its weak point.

Then there was when Gaunt cut holes into one to allow boiling water in...

The issue with Imperial Guard is that they are so diverse as to defy simple categorization.

Sure, you may have come up with rules for the faceless horde, but....what about units like the Volpone Bluebloods, or the Vitrian Dragoons? Elite heavy infantry who can, and will, take the fight to you and break your face.

For every mention of a unit like that asshat Chenkov's 18th Valhallan 'light infantry', there are tough, elite units like the Elysian Drop Troops. For every Salvar Chem-Dog, there is a Catachan. For every Death Korps of Krieg, there is Armageddon Steel Legion. For every Kanak Skull-Taker, there is Moridian Iron Guard. For every Penal Legion, there are crack light infantry units.

The new Codex does not, in my opinion, give the ability to allow your units to fight with the true diversity of the Imperial Guard. Neither do the proposed rules for Movie Guard. Until the entire diversity of the Guard can be captured, I will simply not be satisfied.

The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

You need to add the handheld explosives they all carry. I say a tube charge would be a s5 ap6 small blast weapon one shot only, and every guarsmen has one but only a certain number may throw them per turn per squad. Then for a certain number of points you can cram a whole bunch together I think about ten and throw them as a standard democharge.

I think that orks are so ridiculously good for the points that they should already count as "movie orks."

Mkoll lured it in and blew the sarcophagus off with an overcharged powerpack, leading to a bunch of envenomed needles to get shot into the dessicated remains of the pilot.

Just got finished reading that one yesterday

And to be fair, everytime they've gone up against Marines they've had to bring them down with massive amounts of heavy weapons fire(First & Only, with the Vitrians), sniper fire or Gaunt's powersword(Traitor General), and that's about all I can think of for them fighting Marines really.
