Something has been bothering me recently about Combi-Weapons.
Can a Combi-Plasma fire twice if it is in rapid-fire range?

Yes, it uses the plasma gun profile for a turn.

when it says may only fire once, it means it can only fire once per game as a plasma gun, but when it does fire as a plasma gun it can shoot as many times as a plasma gun can

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

Agreed, but I have to admit, this is a good question.

Under the couch

The Codex: Space Marine version mentions it specifically in the rules entry.

Indeed. It makes you question the demographic GW are aiming for tbh.

Yes, when you fire the Plasma half of the Combi Plasma, no matter what version you are using, you get to fire two shots, because a Plasma Gun is Rapid Fire.

Actually GW should, in this very rare case, get credit for making their intention very clear.

I find it kinda funny that we, as gamers, bitch, moan, nag and whine about GWs inability to write clear and precise rules......and the second they actually do so, we bitch, moan, nag and whine about how they treat us as dumb unintelligent kids.

The thing is, we "bitch, moan, nag and whine about GWs inability to write clear and precise rules" when they actualy go and write poor rules like God of War+No Retreat or the Astropaths/OotF Stacking debacale. The combi-Plasma thing has been clear since the dawn of time but the "dumb unintelligent kids" "bitch, moan, nag and whine" so GW add in clarifications they SHOULD be putting in the rules that actually need it.

Oh, make no mistake. I think GW has a long way to go in order to write clear and precise rules. The rulebook/codexes are full of issues that wouldn't arise if the games designers had half a brain. Barring that, publishing FAQs with the speed that it is needed, and not the idiotic snails pace it currently moves at, would help a lot.

But when the issue IS clear let's just say; "Cool. One less thing to worry about." and be happy.
