Although I've seen it done in Blue, I've done red. Why? Because it looks better on the model.

I think that about covers it. For now.

Yeah, I've seen it done in many different colours but was wandering if there actually was a set colour for it

Normally I would suggest trying to take a look at Xenology, but that is so horribly inaccurate it would not be a good reference.

Personally I would suggest red blood.

If anybody has a reference as to what the oxygen carrying component of tau blood is let me know (The only two I know so far is Red for Iron and Green for Copper [God-Emperor Bless Star Trek])

The fluff states that their blood is purple, something about cobalt (though how that would work, I have no idea).

Cobalt oxide is blue.
Iron oxide is a reddish/orange (aka rust).
Copper oxide is green

Skin colour is based partially upon blood colour (at least in humans).

Your average caucasian is a pinkish hue. Skin itself is yellowish, red (oxygenated) blood gives a colour cast. Dead people tend to return to the yellowish colour (and the blood pooling tends towards the purple-ish (mix of oxygenated AND deoxygenated blood).

Afro and afro-caribbeans tend to a different colour (I'm told. I've only seen dead white folk close up).

Tau have grey (?) skin?

There are mentions of the cobalt-based bit for their blood in both codex and the Fire Warrior novelisation (which is BL and therefore not canon and free to be ridiculed).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

It is blue because they have a cobat\nitrogen base of life. Where we have iron which makes our blood red.

i thought they breathed nitrogen, whatever . And GWAR! i know we are carbon based, but our blood is red from the iron in it, where cobalt would make it blue in theirs.

Tau blue skin and blue blood? Probably doesn't look great modeling wise, but it makes sense I suppose.

Our blood is blue/red on the inside, blue = no oxygen, red = oxygen. So when it comes out there is oxygen in the air, turning it red. But I say Tau blood should be whatever colour you think it is.

well, i think it´d look better with red but over at tau online there´s a theory of why their blood is blue http://www.tauonline.org/Article/254/TheoryTaubloodisblueandhereswhy/

Since their skin is relatively greyish-blue, just make it a dark richer blue like a few shades above navy blue, that way you would have strong enough contrast to know what it is.

Armies I play:

-2500 pts
Mechanicus -1850 pts
