Does a fex with a venom cannon strike at str 12? I realise this doesn't work for the wound chart which only goes up to 10 str, but it could work for vehicles.
Do nids with fleet of claw get to move 2d6 in the shooting phase? 1d6 run plus 1d6 fleet of claw, which specifically states it adds '...another d6 inches in the shooting phase....'.
While it's clear that 'another' refers to the movement phase, due to the new run rule, it could be considered to be another after running.

No. Page 6. Limits all Characteristics (except attacks and Armour Value) to a Maximum of 10. This includes Strength on weapons. No. If you read the Fleet of Claw Rule on Gaunts, 'Stealers etc, it says to refer to the rulebook ( FAQ changed it to refer to the correct Page of course). The rulebook then tells you what fleet does. Fleet has NOTHING to do with extra rolls anymore, it just lets you assault after running 1D6". I'm curious now, where in your codex does it say that Fleet of Claw adds an additional 1D6"? Are you using the Latest Codex? Legitimate Question not trying to be snarky.

As Gwar said, no to both.
Strength can only go up to 10 without bonus dice which the venom cannon cannot give.
Fleet only gives you the ability to assault after running the d6 inches.

Upon comparing my cover to the first result on google images for 'tyranids codex', it appears that was my problem, not having the latest codex.
Just wondering, where on a codex can does it say its edition?

It doesn't. You have to go by what the cover looks like/"Common" Knowledge.

For what it's worth, the most recent one should have a 2004 copyright right below the PRODUCED BY GAMES WORKSHOP on the title page.
Short of asking someone, like Gwar! said, the only other alternative would be to try searching for ISBN numbers associated with the title. Of course, that doesn't help when the book's name changes from Tau to Tau Empire.

*pats on back* Don't worry, when GW makes the next Tau codex and titles it People's Republic of the Tau Empire, no longer will the Tau be able to claim to be the good guys. Then, all the anime fan's will be discouraged and quit. Following that turn of events, GW will realize that their best possible action would be to replace the Tau entirely with the Deimurg.

It's easy to tell which codex is the most recent. It's the one for sale in GW's online store. They don't sell outdated codices.

I'm finding that Gwar! being right is a pattern... If not just because it's his sig.
Also, page 30 of the nids codex, with the pics of the various weaponry, says very clearly that a venom cannon is AT MAX STR 10.

To my knowledge all the newest codices say the word warhammer 40k at the top(instead of codex) and both warhammer 40k and codex at the bottom left corner and then Games Wrokshop at the bottom right corner. Also look at the beginning and the end of the codex for the copyright date. This is how I found which of 2 Tau codices I got, was the new one.
EDIT: I feel so happy that me and JD started the Gwar! is right. Thing in his sig

our VC tops out at S10, it's Max S is listed in the weapon entry.
fleet gives us no additional dice. it functions like the run move in the BRB except we may make this move within 18" and are able to assault after.
