When have you won a game of 40k yet felt really bad for the opponent?

I wiped a 1750 point Eldar army off the table losing 3 Tactical Marines with bolters and 1 Bike with no upgrades. The opponent was a junior as well and pretty much had given up at the end of my turn 2 when he had about 8 models (out of about 40 that were deployed) on the table and 5 to DS in

Once, not too long ago my chaos space marines were fighting deathwing, against a guy who hadn't played since third edition. I won on kill points because the last survivor of my last squad of marines hid, and if he had actually shot at one of my terminator squads with his land raider crusader instead of turning around and going after another squad that had a 4+ cover save he would have weakened them enough that an assault would have finished them off. If he'd been smart, he would have won 6-4, but instead I won 5-4.
Weep not for the dead, for their torment is over.

I think the worst I have done is completely demolish a player playing Greyknights w/ 3 Landraiders on the 1st turn w/ Landspeeders w/ Multimeltas and Sternguard along with Vulcan.

On the 2nd turn he had his lord and 3 terms left. We were playing 2000 points and he was playing all greyknights. It was not pleasant. :(

Well this wasn't me,
But my friend was playing against someone at the club. Friend had IG, Other dude had Tau.
2000pts each. Annihilate
In the end the Tau were completly wiped out at the start of turn 5 and my friend had lost only 8 guardsmen in total.

With the old chaos codex, my World Eaters were truly unfair. I tabled tau without losing a man at roughly 1000 points.
Totally kitted out DP with wings and berzerker glaive + bloodletters did most of the damage.
City terrain helped me the most though.

Your army is the perfect one against pure Khorne. The only real anti tank power we have is the DP or power fists.

Sneaky eldar can just keep you at arm's length the whole time... no surprise.
Gunline tau are a different matter though.

I played a 1500pt game with a friend of mine, I played Eldar with a 5 man seer counsel on bikes.

He played Tau.

We rolled Dawn of war for with 2 objectives and he deployed first.

By the end of the second turn I tabled him using the seer counsel. First turn I charged his command suits, and a unit of fire warriors, and amazingly he didn't brake. At the start of the second turn he charged with two full units of kroot, I lost all but one bike but I directed my attacks at the kroot and won by a couple wounds. We rolled for sweeping advance and I got a six. When my turn rolled around the lone farseer was sitting on a empty table.

Met an awesome Space Wolf player and arranged a game with him. I was playing bugs and there was a huge piece of area terrain in the middle. He only took two troop choices. In the first turn I took out his demolisher cannons off his vindicator. Then I walked through the middle of the board making every cover save vs his remaining heavy weapons and suffering minor casualties on the gaunts. There's two objectives on his side and he has two troop choices so he stays to hold them fighting a defensive fight. Moves his vehicles up front to block LoS against his marines. Turn 4 I was in assault range and had only lost about 40 gaunts.

My entire army assaulted. I don't just mean the front line I mean all of it. Only three things didn't get in. The two sniperfexes and the broodlord and retinue. I ruined a couple vehicles and left them immobile/weaponless. The next turn the broodlord assaulted one of his HQs and wiped it before it could attack back. We looked over at the last group of marines in the corner staring down a dakkfex and dakkatyrant and called it there.

I had 3 objectives to his one. Had it gone on I might have tabled him and at least gotten the last objective contested by turn 6. I felt kinda bad. Even thought it was my first win ever (played around 22 games by then) he took great pride in his space wolves and I literally ran them over. Perhaps next year if I see him again he'll have better luck against my thousand sons. He was itching to take a bite out of them when last I talked to him.

"I drive a big car, cuz I'm a big star. I'll make a big rock-and-roll hit." "I am a big car, and I'm a strip bar. Some call it fake, I call it good-as-it-gets."

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

@Gandair: That's how Space Wolves roll nowadays. However, him only taking 2 Grey Hunters was a bit of a Mistake. I never leave without 4.

The eye of terror.

Ok... this is bugging me a bit too much probably, but I've got to say it: a prince with wings and berzerker glaive was illegal. They erratad that into later printings.

I always took an Axe of Khorne anyways, much cheaper and still worth plenty of attacks.

My most overwhelming recent victory was against a noobie Tau player.

He had some crappy things in his list, like crisis suits with flamers and stealth suits, but he also had two railheads and a braodside team.

By the end of the Turn 4, I'd killed him to a model, and he had managed to kill a wraithlord and Maugan Ra, but I usually put them in precarious situations to prevent my opponent from killing my more fragile stuff anyways.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

I just played a 2000 point game last week.

I ran a 1/2 mechanized/gunline IG list. It had Chenkov & Straken in it, and was more of a "fun" list than a hard mech list (over 100 infantry).

My opponent went with a fully mechanized Vulkan list.

The board had a HUGE piece of LOS blocking terrain in the middle, and a bunch of terrain around it.

It was a Kill Point game.

Personally, I thought it was going to be a tough game, as I had 20 kill points in my list.

End score, IG 8, Salamanders 0. It was a complete slaughter. Turn 1 I took out all of his Rhinos, his assaulter termies couldn't kill a 30 man infantry platoon (stubborn/reroll) before Straken came in (after killing the LR) and killed them all. And my Russes just punished him something fierce.

But he was a great sport

1500 points and my opponent had fieldedabout 85 marines(6 tactical squads, two basic devastator squads and a vanguard squad) against my mech Eldar.

I run alot of ap3+ weaponry and as such by turn 4 all but one devastator squad were dead, and all I had lost was both turrets of my wave serpents, and a single Dire Avenger.

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

Due to an interesting special mission at a tournament, bats came down from the sky and killed all my opponent's hammerheads, right as I was about to lose.

I would then go on to win Best General.

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

Probably because most players don't know the rules as well as they should, let alone the rules for other peoples' armies. And then they rarely confront people for fear of revealing their own ignorance. I'm not saying that you cheated, but it's up to each of us, as a good sportsman, to make sure we're following the rules as scrupulously as possible [/off topic]

I played a 1100pt game against eldar. We agreed that we would only stop when someone had been wiped out.
It was fairly even sided, but with some great shooting by Turn 3 I had more than half my army left and he had his wraithlord.

HOWEVER, I had nothing, NOTHING that could kill his wraithlord, so he promptly killed each and everyone of my remaining guys, and all they could do was whinge about his T8.

I absolutely blew away another Tau player with my own Tau.

I used my Broadside to pick off his Commander's Bodyguard, then his Commander. I blew up a building and killed all of his Pathfinders. I fenced off his Kroot with my Devilfish. The list goes on.

He was in a hurry and didn't look too happy at the end. I didn't feel too happy about that.

Once my friend who plays CSM decided to play against my Nids and made the entire terrain a desert (always difficult terrain). I deployed first with two Carnifex with Barbed Stranglers, and 6 Warriors with Deathspitters, along with my other troops. In order to avoid my Genestealers, he deployed rather tightly in the center.

It wasn't until the game began that he remembered that Nids have the Move Through Cover rule that didn't slow my troops down at all, but ended up keeping his forces in the middle. On turn 1, the torrent of pie plates killed his Defiler, a squad of Khorne Beserkers (he was failing armor saves left and right), some normal Chaos Space Marines and 2 Terminators.

Two turns later, his troops were still tightly clustered due to being unable to move and then the Genestealers pounced. They shredded the remaining Chaos Spaces Marines, Possessed, Khorne Berserkers, Terminators and Abaddon. This left Kharn the Betrayer, who was ready to go down fighting. Unfortunately, he rolled a 1 on his armor save from a Venom Cannon and instantly died.
