Subject: Lag in certain text fields: IE8

When I type in the 'Subject' field of a post reply/new thread form, I get considerable keyboard lag. I'm a fairly quick typist, and it goes at about half of my speed at best, but it doesn't occur most other fields - the only other one I noticed was in the Quick Reply field at the bottom of a thread (which is basically very annoying). Other browsers are fine, other websites are fine as far as I can tell. Clean booted at first because of a known Dell issue, but no sauce, plus it's fine everywhere else. I don't use IE8 much so it doesn't put me out, you know... but I do wonder what the difference with those fields might be. Anyone else noticed this in the last couple of days?
Not convinced it's anything to do with Dakka because I couldn't be arsed booting another computer at the moment... and don't have IE8 elsewhere besides.

hmm I'll be able to figure it out if I install IE8. I've downloaded it and will test it on a vmware image sometime in the future. Does it happen on facebook too?
Some MS people are suggesting this as a fix:
1. Click Start, please type “inetcpl.cpl” (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter to open the Internet options window.
2. Switch to the Advanced tab.
3. Click the "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" button.
4. Click Reset to confirm the operation.
5. Click Close when the resetting process has finished.
6. Uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option in the Settings box.
7. Click Apply, click OK.
If the issue still occurs after resetting IE, try to boot in No Add-ons Mode. Click the Start Button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Please check if the issue persists. If the issue does not reoccur, it may be caused by an IE Add-on. In that case, let’s continue to perform the following steps to narrow down the cause. Check
Check Internet Explorer Add-Ons
=========================
1. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2. Click the "Programs" tab, and then click Manage Add-ons.
3. Select an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable.
4. Please restart IE with Add-ons and check the issue again. If the issue is resolved, the disabled Add-on was the cause of the issue. If the issue reoccurs, let’s let’s continue to disable the next Add-on using the same method. By doing so, we can determine which Add-on contributed to the issue.

I think the Main Problem is you are running IE 8.
Get Firefox, you won't be disappointed.
