There's been enough discussions on if there is only one type of Ork Nob (See what I did there?) but I thought of something while I was painting some of my boyz...

I've only seen models of orks bald or with top-knots. Are the top-knots pasted on their heads, or is it their actual hair? If it is their actual hair, why don't they grow it out? And what's to stop me from giving my warboss dreadlocks?

'Waves hand' This isn't the user you are looking for.

I would say that orks that have hair have been gifted by gork and mork but yes you can give your warboss dreadlocks

A firm believer in yin and yang.
My eternal thanks to lennysmash for helping me with pics in my blog.

The fluff (going all the way back to RT books) states that naturally orks are totally hairless, due to thier fungoid rather and mammalian nature. However, as decoration an ork will encourage a species of squig known as the 'hair squig' (which has evolved to be little more than teeth and clump of hair) to bite into thier skin to form a head of hair (like a toupe or wig), they are also used by doks to suture wounds, and thier hair is made into rope etc.

No reason why a warboss wouldn't have dreads, he just has access to a lot of hair squigs (albeit ones with particularly matted hair)

That is possibly the coolest ork fluff I have ever read.
