My GF and I played our first ever game. We both have 1100 point armys mine are my Tau vs her orks. My army is as follows
Tau Army
Minus one of the Piranna's as it's not built just yet. Her's is a Warboss and 2 Ork boy mobs, one Nob mob with a trukk, 5 burna boys with a mek, 3 warbikes, 3 deffcopta's and a warbuggy.
My strategy was to line up across the board to make her do the same thing as i had first deployment. Then to punch a hole in her left flank (my left side) and have my
FW fall back to the now open left flank under cover of my devil fish.
I deployed a stagered line of
FW as close to my edge as possible with my Pathfinders on my left flank and my Piranna's on my right flank to force her to deploy her heavy hitters on the right side.
She deployed her trukk (with nobs in), bikes and buggies on my right flank facing my piranna's and her deffcopta's on my left flank facing my Fish with my pathfinders in it. Her boys and burrna's flanked her warboss taking up the remaining of the middle of the map.
My scouts in the devil fish moved up and my stealth team infiltrated to the right of the fish. As my pathfinders disembarked my piranna's move up and Melted the ork trukk flinging ork nobs all over the place but only one ork took any serious injury's which the nob shook off after their pain boy stuck a needle in him that looked more like a dagger. My pathfinders fired their markers at the Boys on my left flank closest to them lighting them up while my devil fish fired at the deff copta's don't doing much damage but one of the gun drones managed to get a proton grenade into thier mids forcing them into a hard landing. With their boy's lit up with marker lights the stealth teams mowed into their boys with some help from a couple of the
FW teams leaving only 9 boys left while my remaining two
FW teams took potshots at the other mob doing little damage but taking a few orks down. Finaly my commander jumpe foward and hit the warboss with his plasma gun before he and the stealth team jumped back behind cover.
The nobs enraged over the destruction of their transport rushed the fast moving pirannas firingtheir sluggas before trying to hit the piranna's with their chompas and a few claws. The warbikers seeing the nobs in close combat followed suit. The piranna pilots triggering their flechette dischargers killed one biker and wounded a number of nobs before taking a number of hits the destroyed two of their guns and shakeing up the pilots. The rest of the mobs advanced on my Tau gun line firing their weapons that consisted of mostly of slugga but one big shoota did get a lucky shot and managed to kill one of my Fire warriors.
My Piranna pilots still trying to maintain control of their skimmers where unable to move but their gunners managed to open fire but with the skimmers till not undercontrol they were unable to get good locks with their targetting arrays and did not do any damage. Fortunatly a group of firewarriors managed to snipe the remaing two bikes my shooting under the skimmer getting a pair of lucky shots. The two center
FW units managed to do some damage to the right group of boys and kill two burna's while the pathfinders and their devil fish attempted to finish off the deffcopta's but only striking a couple of hits which bounced harmlessly of their armor. Fortunatly the last group of firewarriors see the problem with the deffcopta's if they manage to get their twinlinked rokits on their fish, open fire on the deffcoptas damageing two and dowing the third for good. The stealth team comes jumpes out and completely wipes out the mob on the left side while my Shas'o commander jumps foward firing his fragmentation projector into the second group of boys and kills a number of them and another burna boy. Before both jump back to saftey.
The warboss a whole group of boys slaughtered let out a great WAAAAAH!! and charged my commanders and his remaining boys and nobs all rushed forth ignoring the piranna's although his warbuggy managed to get a shot off on the pirahnna's not doing any damage but managed to shake up the already struggling pilots. The boys and nobs struggling to get around the piranna's and each other didn't manage to make it to the tau gun line how ever their warboss with his dangerous power klaw did manage to engage my Tau commander how ever the crisis battle suit did prove quicker than the slow klaw and put their boss down for good. On the far side of the battle field the deffcopta's did manged to get off the group again and brought their rokits to bear on the devil fish getting a solid hit into the cockpit killing the crew. The gundrones undamaged but not linked with the controls of the devilfish automaticly disengaged from the wrecked transport.
The pirannas pilots still struggling from the recent barrage of gunfire could not get their ships to move how ever the gunners managed to get a solid lock on the warbuggy and turn it into slag much to the relief of their pilots. The pathfinders lit up the last mob of boys with their markerlights while my commander dropped another fragmentation round over top killing a few and wounding a nob. The middle left fire warrior team withdrew to the now mostly open left flank firing but the range proved too great for the long guns firing from the hip. The two now exposed firewarrior units turned and ran to join up with the left flank while left flanking
FW team layed down cover and even got a few kills shooting between their retreating teammates just before the stealth team jumped forward and mowed down the final boys.
Left with only a couple of burnas an a mostly wounded nob boys the orks didn't have much hope but the advanced anyway on the now cornered tau army. The deffcopta's getting first shot managed a to blow one of the stealth teams markerdrones away and the burna's managed to get in range of my commander who's armor shrugged off the flamer. How ever luck was not with the burna boys as their mek hefted his melta gun which promptly exploded taking off his head. The remaining burna not liking the odds turned tail and fled the battle. The group of nobs kept alive by their pain boy chased after the fleeing Tau firewarriors managing to kill one of them with a shoota but not able to get in range of hand to hand.
The Tau piranna's finaly able to get their ships under control dropped their last remaining drones to hound the nobs from behind turned and opened their throttles full out and burned to toward the deffcoptas on the other side of the battle. The two firewarrior units continued to withdraw under cover of their teammates who put down a withering amount of fire on the remaining nobs who managed to keep alive thanks to their painboy and two cyborg units. Even still only three of them remained alive for their final charge.
The deffcopta's managed to let off another rokit to take down another of the marker lights on the stealth team and the nob charge came up short of the fleeing firewarriors who managed to stay just ahead of the orks just long enough for the firewarriors rapid fire weapons to put down the remaining three nobs,for the greater good. While the piranna's finished off the deffcoptas in a display of pyro technics.
2 Firewarriors were killed in this engagment but their names will be remember in glory for the battle won. Morn not these brave souls for they gave their lives willingly for the greater good.
