Not to be a downer or anything mate, but you're just taking way too many upgrades on everything. You can pump up your sergeants weapons and the tank upgrades all you want, but its still the same number of basic models. I'll try and point out some of the things I mean:

In your HQ squads, heavy flamers are overpriced, and medipacks probably are for platoon commands. strip them both out, and use multiple normal flamers (or grenade launchers) instead, you save points and are more dangerous. Powerfists might be a good idea in some situations, but DO NOT put plasma pistols on junior officers. It's a significant chance to kill yourself every time you fire, then you lose all the advantages of orders, LD and the power fist you just bought.

For troops, krak grenades might be a really good idea (as long as you play against lots of tanks with rear AV 10) but don't bother on your heavy weapon squads. 3 krak grenade attacks will rarely be better than shooting their big guns. You don't need a vox in every infantry squad, because you probably want to combine them and one vox serves the whole 30 men. This is a good tactic because it reduces kill points, and your sergeants and special weapons survive longer.

Armoured sentinels are worse than scout sentinels in my opinion, perhaps you should use scout sentinels with autocannons and hunter-killer missiles, or lascannons, or missile launchers. All these options are cheaper, and you can get a shot at enemy vehicles side armour by outflanking. If you really want plasma cannons, though armoured sentinels are fine.

Leman russes are great! but the rules for vehicle squadrons make them weaker - since you've got the spare space, why not field three seperate tanks? more tactically flexible, tougher. (read the rules for vehicle squadrons to see what I mean) You could field them bare or with heavy bolter sponsons, flamer sponsons are a bad idea - if you're in range to fire, the enemy is in range to assault. Extra armour and camo netting might actually be worth it in this case.

Thanks for the feedback. It's all very welcome and it's through replies like yours that I hope to learn what is neccesary and a good Idea and what defintely isn't! This is the first army list I have ever made for 40k, let alone guard so that probably shows a little

Thanks again.

Don't mean to give you the idea that you're a worthless maggot who's doing it all wrong or anything! But once you've been playing for a bit you might realise that you pay a lot for upgrades and they don't add a corresponding amount to your army's power. Total the points spent on upgrades in your list and you'll see what I mean. I think the models you've listed would make a great 1500 point list, which is good, a great size to play at. here's a rough list of your models fielded with reduced upgrades:

Company command squad - Leader with Power fist, Melta Bombs
Medi-Pack
Vox-Caster
Standard Bearer
2 flamers/grenade launchers
All with Krak Grenades and Carapace Armor. (155 pts)

2 x Platoon Command Squad - Leaders with Power Fist, Melta Bombs
Standard Bearers
Vox Casters
2 flamers/grenade launchers
All with Krak Grenades. (170 pts for both)

6 x Infantry Squad (10's) - Sergeants with Power Weapon and Melta Bombs
2 vox-casters (one in each platoon)
Mix of Meltagun/Flamers
All with Krak grenades. (460 pts + weapons) I advise putting cheap heavy weapons in these squads. at 10 pts an autocannon is great even if you move and don't use it sometimes. seems expensive in £ but the heavy weapon sprue can actually make several different weapons.

3 x Heavy Weapons Squads - Various Weapon Upgrades
(270 pts)

Scout Sentinel Squad - 3x autocannons, 3x hunter-killer missiles (150 points)

Leman Russ - lascannon, heavy bolter sponsons (185 pts)

Leman Russ - lascannon, heavy bolter sponsons (185 pts)

Leman Russ - lascannon, heavy bolter sponsons (185 pts)

Total = 1760

Don't mean do be really domineering or pushy - I'm not suggesting you need to use this list or anything (I think a lot of people on this site would consider this list not so great anyway) But you can see how many points can be saved by not buying too many upgrades. a totally naked leman russ costs 150 points, but its still got the heavy armour and battlecannon of your upgraded ones (230 pts). I really do hope that helps. I get the idea you wanted to get a 2000 point list in one step, but maybe you should consider playing at 1500 pts first - its enough models to be interesting, but you don't have to make quite so many decisions about what models to buy. There's a lot of stuff you can do to make IG less hard on the wallet - heavy weapons and command squads can be combined with cheaper basic troops so you don't have to buy a command squad box or a heavy weapon team for every single one in your army list; weapons on sentinels and leman russes can be magnetised, which is surprisingly easy and convenient. PM me if you have any questions on this sort of thing, or I'm sure there are tutorials on this site written by blokes more knowledgeable than I am.

Good luck, may your lasguns roll 6s to wound!

You really don't need Kraks for the HWTs and a lot of the other units. You've clearly just shoved in options wherever you can.
