I don't actually have the luck of having a FLGS - the closest one in an hour and a half away, sadly. I was just wondering how I might enter the Golden Demon competition one day, when (if ever) I think my skills are up to the task!

The official rules are here: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?community=true&catId=&categoryId=3000001&pIndex=0&aId=16400003&start=1

Hopefully it answers your questions.

Well it really is as simple as paint models for a category then show up at games day with them. Make sure you get the appropriate category as some of the classifications are a little wibbly (such as ork warbosses counting as monsters and individual bikes going in as vehicles, yet fantasy mounted generals count as single minatures unless they're on a monster) In my experience the staff at events are very helpful in ensuring that your mini ends up in the right place. Also, buy yourself a small travel case for your mini as its a killer when you take your model to an event and it gets chipped on the way. Finally, although GW will never admit it, models with impressive bases do better and the newer 'sexy' techniques tend to do better (a few years ago it was painting red, then wet blending, currently its non metallic metals as far as i know)

Forever alone

Contrary to what these blasphemers tell you, it involves a mystical and ancient ritual.

First, stand in front of a mirror and say 'Jervis Johnson' twelve times. Then Jervis will appear behind you. Turn around and duck quickly or he will turn you into a WD magazine.

Then, hold up some kind of sacred item (a bit of the True Cross of Jesus, a Star of David, etc), and say "Wenn ist das Nunstruck git und Slotermeyer? Ja!...
Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!" before he can cast his evil spells.

He should then be magically bound within a pentagram, and you may ask him to be registered in the Golden Demon competitions. He will only oblige you if you burn a box of kittens for him on the steps of a Church.

And that's how you enter Golden Demon.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Is there a 'Three foot rule" category? An "I've got other things to do like eat and sleep" category?
