I'm setting up a unit of Nobz and I can't figure out how many big choppas and power klaws to use in the unit. I'm mounting them in a trukk and sending the warboss with them. Anybody have any good ideas or should I go with one over the other.

Personally, I run a 5 nob mob with 4 big choppas and a standard choppa/slugga. This goes with the Warboss who has a claw.
I have found this to depower the unit just enough to let them stay in combat on the opponents turn.
YMMV

I usually stick to three klaws and two to three big choppas for a ten man (ork) unit.

My 8 strong Nob unit has 3 Powerklaws in it. I have one Big Choppa as it looked really cool. Great strength, but not being able to negate armor saves makes it less useful.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Personally when i run a mob of nobz i go 10 big choppas, i have enough S8/S7 stuff kicking around and plus i spend alot of points on the Heavy and HQ, but 10 big choppas sqwish IG and the like very easily.

Why waste 3 klaws in a unit to blow up 1 tank and then get stuck in the open?

If i need a klaw, i put me boss or big mek (depending on mood) in.

Just my 2 cents (AUD so about 1.6 USD )

In my mob of 10 nobs i tend to run 3 Klaws, 3 Big Choppas, a painboy, and the rest Chop/Slug. This way i have 3 high Str nobs attacking at I4, then a bunch of "normal" Str attacks. Anything thats left has to deal with several PK attacks. This way i can have my nobz deal with any threat there is.

Also the more variety you have the easier it is to use wound alocation. Just make sure to bring a painboy and a Waaagh! banner.

I usually run a 7 man nob squad with warboss, 2 klaws for the nobs and 1 for the WB. I don't really use big choppas, Nobs will wound on 2+ on the charge in enough situations, and then the 3 pks crush anything else. A couple of games ago the nobs took out 2 fexes in one assault, although they were shootyfexes. Point is, I think one pk is worth more than 5 big choppas anyday.

Instead of using a trukk then use a battlewagon. Much more ifective. And give them lots of choppas and sloggas. With so many attacks your apponent will go down like a snap!
