Hello first of im new to warmachine/hordes and have only one model wich is Avatar of Menoth and have warmachine prime remix book, but have never seen it played, well on you tube some battle reps, i have read allot here on battle college and privateer forums and came to the conclusion i want to use Grim Angus with the troll impalers and alten ashley once i reach 500 points, i'm trying to get some warhammer friends into this game, and i probably will I've just ordered a battle box of the troll bloods since the impalers are in there and the axer seems realy nice as well as far as battlecollege tells me

Now here's my first list

Grim Angus
Troll Axer
Troll Impaler
Troll Impaler
Krielstone Bearer and Stone Scribes (6)
Stone Scribe Elder UA
Trollkin Longriders (3)
Alten Ashley
Swamp Gobbers

This comes down to 500 points exactly

Also a couple of questions
In MKII you cant have random numbers of troops right? i usualy see you have to max the units but recently i've also read you can have the minimum as well, is this true?
Can have either 6 or 10 Kriel warriors then no in between?

And do i need to buy a hordes book or will the book in the battlebox + warmachine prime remix book be enough?

I like the list. It's kind of a delay your enemy and take him apart piecemeal army.

In MkII, you can have either Max sized units or Min sized units. There is no in between like in MkI.

Prime Remix will have all of the unit attachment and cavalry rules and the Hordes Quick Start rules should have Fury and Animi. Yeah, I think that should do ya.

Welcome to the Machine!

Thanks oomiestompa

Thats realy awesome because if you could only have max units i would have set the cavalry out of my mind completely, because i read that you dont usualy have more then 3 riders.

I used to run Grim a lot and pretty succesfully. I'd check out the Prye Troll for the animus. The damage buff is pretty helpful. I would generally run something like:

Grim
Impaler
Axer
Pyre
Champs
Alten
Totem Hunter

Champs are a mainstay of Trolls. To me, pretty much all the troll infantry comes down to, "Unit X is nice, but for only a few points more, I can get a unit of Champs, which is about 2 to 3 times better." Grim really helps Champs get the charge off, which they generally struggle with.

champs are awesome.
the first time i played a some friends with trolls, their post game comments always involved how much of a pain the champs were to deal with

I've started painting my battle box and alten ashley and grim angus are on its way here from maelstorm

By the way, i think longriders look alllot better then champs, so i picked them instead of champs, but im not sure wether it was a smart move, i'm hoping they will do the job as well as champs can

I see almost all trollbloods use champs but i hope i didnt make a bad decision on not taking them

i've heard good things about longriders, the pricetag on them is the only reason i haven't gotten any yet

Longriders are different than Champs. Champs are a sledgehammer that you beat your opponent with. He knows it's coming, they're kinda slow, but it's really hard to do anything about it. Longriders are faster, and they don't have as much force, but can often do more damage (thanks to reach and impact hits). I've used both in lists before, the Champs being more of an anvil and the Longriders as the hammer.
