Hi! I have a question about rippers(of course) so here it is:
How do they move?
I'm an armature robot designer and i want to make a robo-ripper... you know like one of those little robot dogs.
I want to know because I'm going to need it to move and stuff my most likely idea is to have it crawl around on it's belly and bite, possibly respond to light and sound. If I can get the design sorted out i will start a thread on painting and modeling.

Oh and no crazy ideas like a 100 strong swarm of rippers destroying my enemy's because i already am planing for this eventuality...

I had always figured it being snake-like.

Assuming you do not mean the winged ones.

I see them scuttling forward fairly slowly, say a slow walk. But the next layer up is moving at that speed on top of the other rippers so are moving twice as fast. As the rippers get to the front they drop to the ground and fall back as the rippers at the back clime onto the rippers in front.

I would say they use a snake like lunging movement.

or they fly.

Yes but what about their legs they have to use them don't they? I thought that they would scuttle. Also I had an idea about giving the prototype a slashing talon(good for cutting the grass) so snake-like wouldn't work well.
also I'll have the plans up in a while.

I think that Rippers are able to move because of all the goo below them (remaining of bio-things) basically reducing friction, remember that Rippers only actually arrive on the planet once its ripe for consumption.

If I really wanted to replicate their movement I would do it like a snake pattern PLUS an additional whip like movement to the tail at certain intervals allowing for more speed, and as a compensator have a second whip motion from the opposite side.

Oh yeah as for the part touching the ground you're going to find a really good material for it or go for multiple tiny wheels.

Waaagh!
