So, I put this together when I was bored one morning and I was rather surprised with the end result. My idea was to make a heavier and more accurate droid, giving it a heavier toughness, and a BS of atleast 3 or 4. lol. Hope you guys like it, I call it "THE CRAB" ((Need some help on that last bit)). Kinda painted it in a jiffy, gotta go back and do some touch-ups.

Awww he's kinda cute. Fits in with the T'au quite nicely too

I like it. It would be cute trying to walk around lol. Maybe add some sleek jet-thrusters on it or summin.

Im unsure about the 3 armor plate / leg thingy.
The white plating on it are so big and thick it started to look orky.

One remedy though! paint on some of those black Tau stripes.

Oh my gosh Luna changed her portrait again...

I like it though as Luna said some black stripe details on the legs, or trimming down the bulk on the white areas would make it look more sleek and tau-y and less big and orky.

It looks kinda clunky and immobile. I would second the call to make it an objective, or maybe some kind of hover deployed turret (i.e. the sides pivot about a bit and it hovers enough for it to be pushed about easily... towed by a pirahna?). It doesn't look mobile enough for a Tau droid.

addendum... also seconded - Luna's a girl?

I like it, but I can't really see it being a drone that moves on it's own. I like the idea about the hovering, and being pulled around by a pirahna though. Cool.

Looks cool. The Crab seems like an alright name for it. Tau does have some IG on their side so it could have both a Tau-ish name or a name like the one you gave it. I don't know how the others could see it trying to walk anywhere, it obviously hovers around then lands on the ground to shoot.

I like it , in a 50-50 bad way ...

I would LOVE to shoot that bastard down , but its still so cute it would take an emotional struggle to do it

Well that contributed a lot to the thread.

I would suggest removing the landing pads with spider-like legs, similar to a Defiler. The pads look out of place and goofy.

Working on it more tonight actually, I've got a view spare Aerial sticks to work with, so I'm probably going to go with the main agenda and make it look like a hovering Turret, something even more -Droid-.

The Pirhana bit is a fantastic idea. I think it would work really well conceptually. Using the model as a "counts as" drone controller would be awesome as well.

cool conversion. i wouldn't give it more than bs 3 though. even the fancy "advanced" forgeworld tau turret drones are bs 2 base with targetters increasing them to 3.

Looks really cool now that it's hovering. The background is also good.

Making random stuff out of leftover bits is nice, but I just don't like this. Tau drones all fly, so this one breaks the mold in a weird way. It's also pretty obvious how much of a "bunch of bits glued together" it is.
Sorry, but not a fan, it doesn't seem very tau-ish.

EDIT: just noticed in a previous post that it is now hovering. That's a good start, if you could integrate the iconic drone circle too it would help a lot.

I think it works well as an objective marker/scenery piece. Not very drone like certainly, but I can see the Earth Caste knocking something like it together for some purpose or other.

Anyway I like it its cool and I wouldnt stick anything else on it otherwise it will overdo it. XD
