I just picked up a box of Chaos Spawn for my CoL yesterday and started thinking how in what way I could make the models/bases modular as to interchange between Fantasy and 40k (I play Beasts of Chaos). I've searched for articles on it but with now luck and am turning to you guys to see if you've read or heard anything about it. I'm considering magnets, as I have some heavy duty ones left over from my Baneblade/LR magnetization.

The only interchanging I've seen for fantasy/40k are with the WotR movement trays with the circular cutouts for individual models.

Any ideas?

you could always pin the 'feet' so that they can slip into both bases

I too have wondered about cutting up the WotR movement trays to create square bases with round base-sized holes in the middle - with enough work and very carefully removing most of the surround, I suppose it would be possible to create square bases that were exactly the correct size. Then casting them in resin would seem sensible - but surely I can't be the first to think of this?

Magnets or something similar would still be needed to attach the round base to its square outer frame...

For something like Spawn though, it wouldn't be that hard to put little magnets in the Spawn's mutated feet then give it a choice of 2 bases. Or just pin the feet (with actual steel pins/paperclips) as Statu says and have magnets in the bases?
