Guide says it doesn't require LOS to be used, and it's been said that a farseer can cast spells from within a tank provided it wasn't one of the shooting ones, such as Guide or Fortune, measuring range from the hull of the tank.

My question is, using that same logic, can you cast Guide or Fortune on a friendly unit that's still inside a tank? Guiding fire dragons, for example, before they rush off to do their dirty work.

A step up from that, can you cast Doom on an ENEMY unit that's inside a vehicle? Obviously you'd have to blow up the tank before you could do anything else to them, but an annihilated result would get to re-roll the dice to wound when you blew it up, and any other shooting at that unit would certainly be devastating. Since Doom doesn't require LOS, this seems possible. Am I missing something?

The main rulebook FAQ addresses this, and says that the only time a farseer may cast a psychic power on a transported unit is if the farseer himself is joined to that unit.

What he said. Not that I don't blame the OP for not checking, GW's FAQ's are atrocious.

I think the fact that this is in fact a rules change and not a clarification of any rule that's actually written down anywhere is in support of your opinion. This should have been an errata.

Don't even get me started on that. It seems GW have a habit of doing this for everything, and it is really really annoying. The most annoying one for me is the Deff Dread one. They ALREADY had 9001 lines of Errata for the ork Codex, why couldn't they have added one more to make the Deff Dreads attacks 2(3)?

Not that the INAT FAQ is any better. Don't get me wrong it is a great document, I just wish they would label the Rules Changes as Rules Changes.

GW do "FAQs" not "errata".

Publishing errata is an admission that you screwed the pooch. To shareholders, this is a bad thing.

An FAQ makes it look like the consumers have misunderstood it (so, not a product fail, a user fail) and is much better to the shareholder pov.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I play Eldar and I play it as the OP described.

Maybe im TFG but when someone says "The FAQ says you cant do that"

I say "Got the FAQ on you? No? then FAQ off"

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

Mech Eldar army of the Craftworld Din Cassian currently at 17-6-7.

The Cat in my Avatar is my Cat. He's called Taz and he's just over ten months old.

If you ignore the rules (whether they're in the rulebook or not) for advantage, then yes, I would say you are TFG.

I do not ignore the Rules, I simply dislike people quoting stuff when I cannot then myself check. My friend sometimes brings a copy of the INAT and GW FAQ to the game club with him.

So if my opponent on those occasions before game says "Care if this game uses INAT or GW FAQ rules" ill agree, but if he then halfway through quotes a document I didn't agree to play on ill tell him so.

This may stem from the fact that when I was learning the game some guy I played against quoted rules from a FAQ that later turned out to not exist. I was new and took his rules as given.

Having a bad experience is not an excuse for bad behavior on your part. The FAQs are easily accessible enough that if you know something to be written in them, then you should play as such.

Why should I agree to play to FAQ rules. the GW one is as Gwar pointed out a mess. and the INAT one takes the ideology of rules as interpreted to the extreme.

I play my games for fun, if i enjoy playing on vanilla rules(like the majority of my club) rather than on an FAQ why should I be forced to do so for casual games.

Obviously when I go to tournies I check what FAQ they are using and make sure I'm up to date, and when playing there I stick by the rulings of the FAQ used. However when playing a casual game if I prefer to use Vanilla rules I think im perfectly justified thank you.

combo has it utterly right.

If you do not mention it before the game, you play by the rules as written without any FAQ "Rulings". If you mention it before the game, you are more than likely to get a Positive response (A 6 Pack or a Bottle of Rum never hurt either )
