GW paints all their Sallies green even the Terminators.
I've seen veteran terminators with black helmets though and that looks pretty good.

Fluff wise thier meant to be black with flames all up the armor I think the first company is called the Firedrakes or summat like that.

That's one thing I wish GW would do, they give you these kinds of details for other chapters like Blood Angels and Ultramarines, but when you're trying to figure out how to paint Salamanders it's just...green. Maybe some have black helmets or flames, maybe they don't. They don't really tell you much about the Salamanders, which I don't understand since they're one of the cooler chapters.

GW is inconsistent with their own fluff, oh well.
All their painted Sallies that I have seen lately have green rimmed shoulder pads. It doesn't seem they follow the codex standard for company designators?

There's some images showing colour schemes but this might be the part of most interest to you.
The Fire Drakes - First Company
Captain: Tu'Shan
Squads: 12 Veteran Squad
Support: Dreadnoughts, Rhinos, Land Raiders, Terminator Squads
Company Colors: Chapter badge white on a black background, Codex company markings
Codex markings would suggest to me that they would probably be white. As with anything though, it can come down to personal choice. If you want them black or gold or covered in flames then I don't think there's any reason not to do that other than the fact you might be lynched by uber-purists!

I painted my sallies orange to be different but with the green you could try a tan for the Sarg's. Make it your own man!!!
