I had this random situation pop into my mind last night when I was thinking about if I wanted to add some commanders to my tanks for added visual appeal. Would the commanders fit into the banners and otherwise extra items for visual appeal that cannot be used for LOS checks?

What Tri said. In order to get LoS to a vehicle, you must be able to see it's hull. A Fleshy bit sticking out of the top is not hull

As long as you don't try using the commander for getting LOS to me I'll not claim that I can draw LOS to him. He's a decoration, making your tank look better.
