I'm just starting to get into Eldar and so far have chosen two Fire Prisms in my small force. Though looking at the Falcon it is same price, same armour and has more weapons. The pulse laser also seems nice as well, though the prism cannon can fire blast templates.

Looking at it, falcon perhaps better for anti vehicle and prisms best for anti troops or large vehicle, especially if two prisms are used.

Thoughts?

Eh, the BS3, and the fact that you have to purchase at least one shuriken cannon really makes the Falcon unattractive to me.

Depends what you want:
-You want a dedicated killing machine, go the fire prism

-You want a small squad carrier and the ability to splat elites/tanks, go the falcon

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

I would go with the fire prism for a multitude of reasons
1. It's cheaper
2. It can take out hords as well as elite infantry
3. It's got a better BS
4. It can combine fire with other Prisms
5. It has a longer range than the falcon.
6. It can actually take out BT Crusaders.

The only thing the Falcon has over the prism is the ability to
1. Ferry fire dragons
2. ferry scoring units.

I totally forgot about the BS skill being different and didn't realise the falcon could carry troops as well.

The thing about falcons carrying units is that Wave Serpents do it better for cheaper, and don't take valuable heavy support slots.

True, that. but falcons are harder to kill and pack more of a punch.

Falcons are only harder to kill if you purchase them holofields, which makes them waaay more expensive, and even then, they're only situationally harder to kill. Meltas as 1/2 range actually kill a holofield tank better than a wave serpent.

Point taken. Which is why I uses fire prisms and serpents instead of falcons.
Except in Apocalypse, when I use my cloudstrike squadron.

Fire Prism's all the way. They are one of two ways to get strength nine or above weaponry in the entire eldar codex. The other being Singing Spears.

Falcons are only good for carrying small elite squads into areas were they are needed, and also for saving squads that would otherwise get overpowered and destroyed.

They bring some heavy weaponry to help them scare off units whilst they extract or drop in units, but they are not going to display the killing power of the Fire Prism.

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

unrelated Mercer, in your list I'd field Wraithlords, as I've already said

The main problem with falcons now is that there are too many better choices in the heavy slot. If its just comparing prism vs falcon then its no contest for the prism. But with two prisms already in your list, take a hard look at a walker squadron.

Or for that matter a couple prisms and a wraithlord. If you have some psychers then a wraithlord is a very tough, solid unit.

It mainly comes down to prisms are better than falcons. Walkers are better than falcons. And wraithlords are better than falcons. Falcons are about as good as dark reapers.

Altho there is nothing at all wrong with three prisms either. Dont worry too much about the linking ability btw, its often a better idea to just take their individual shots.

Sliggoth

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

I would agree with Nektel- go with Warwalkers or something else (like more troops choices) rather than a third Rpism. They seem to have diminishing returns in 3s.

On a side note, ALWAYS put spirit stones on Prisms. This allows you to get them out of trouble when they are shaken/taking hits, and to still use them to tank shock when they can't shoot. Jeez, I seem to say that a lot these days.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Wraithlords are pretty nasty, especially if you can position them to attack units with only Str 4 or less weaponry. Just make sure to keep a psyker nearby and safe so that you don't lose a turn of shooting with your big guy.
