Are they any good? I haven't played, but I'm interested in it.

I played when it came out early on. And it's not bad at all. Especially for a quick pickup game. A lot of minis available. But i stepped out due to it being possible to collect all. And the randomness kept the ones i liked out of reach. But it's worth a try if you have the money for it.

I'm assuming you meant impossible to collect it all...
That's actually gotten a lot easier with the last couple of sets. They've dropped from 60 models per set to 40... which means that if you buy a case of boosters (which is really not that much more expensive than a 40K battleforce) you get 4 each of the commons, 2 each of the uncommons, 1 of each rare, and half (4 of 8) of the very rares from that set.
The ease of getting rares in boosters has also pushed the secondary market prices down somewhat on singles. Very Rares are still expensive, but most other singles are cheaper than they used to be.
As for the game itself, it's one of the few games I'm playing regularly at the moment. Not a huge amount of depth to it, and there are a few slightly unbalanced pieces that I suspect would make tournament gaming a bit dull... one or two pieces that are pretty much compulsory, and so show up in just about every competitive squad (yes, Ugnaught Demolitionist, I'm looking at you!) ... but it's a good fun game for casual play.

Yes oops meant impossible. Sorry.
You could make very 'fluffy' factions. Of course i didn't go for competitive builds. Good game, fun for a quick SW fix and useful when doing SW roleplays too.

It plays quite nicely, quite simple to run and the figures aren't too bad either. Just got back into this myself after stopping a couple of years back.
I'd only grabbed a Rebel storm starter and a couple of boosters so previously I didn't stick around long and sold my minis mainly as my wife had no interest. Which kinda sucks now I'm back as I'd lucked a Boba Fett figure last time.
However, aye, picked up a The Clone Wars Starter, two Clone Wars boosters and two Imperial Entanglements boosters. From that I have two solid 150 pt clone wars forces to teach my eldest Son how to play and help him into Wargames. (He's five) Plus he and his younger brother love the show, so I was mainly going for Clone stuff, with some original Series stuff for me.
Some nice figures in both sets, plus I lucked out on two Ultra Rares so far, Captain Rex and C3PO Ewok diety, will definately be buying more asap.
I will say though it's a fun game and thanks to the rares you get in the boosters and the folks in the starter you don't feel too let down by the characters you can play with. My son currently is using Dooku with loads of Droids, V's General Kenobi, Anakin and a squad of clones. So that's quite impressive visually, hoping to get lucky and get Bariss Offee in my next few boosters as she's one of my fave characters.
I'd certainly recommend it to any Star Wars fan, and as a former Clix player, having the rules on cards and not on some heinous contraption on their base is much better.

It seems really interesting.
I might start an Imperial force, any tips?

Door control is your friend. Try to get characters with 'override' and 'satchel charge' into your list. Best pieces for this, I believe, are the latest iteration of Lobot at 15pts (for your override) and a couple of Ugnaught Demolitionists at 3pts a piece (for your satchel charge).
One of the neat combos to play with Imperials is dubbed 'Black and Blue'. It utilizes one of the 'Thrawn's (newest one seems to be favored more for its lower cost and the ability to grant opportunist), and maybe a Vader. There are different types of Black and Blue.
If you're going to be playing a Thrawn piece, don't forget to invest in a Mas Amedda piece. Without Mas, Thrawn's commander ability is only good for pieces within 6 spaces.
Actually... If you're playing a commander whose effect only has a range of 6 spaces, invest in Mas to alleviate this.
Another cool combo with Imperials is the Palpatine on the throne mixed in with Vader's Apprentice, Unleashed. Palps acts as a force points battery that allows the apprentice a large supply of points for one of the more devastating force powers in the game... I don't remember off the top of my head what it is but its a 'lightning' attack that hits for a good chunk.
A good site to look at is bloomilk.com
