Inspired by the thread about Orks that aren't green, I decided to ask you all for your ideas/advice on an idea I've been contemplating for a while: Eldar with weird skin colours.
I've bought a load of Eldar and most have yet to be painted. I'd really like them to look a little bit more alien. Giving them some weird skin colour seems like a good way to do this, but what colour? And how can I justify this in the army's backstory?

BTW, newbie here. May as well have just painted a target on my head lol

Skin colour is a difficult thing to think of, and justify, simply because most of it has already been done by GW................................. i guess you could make their skin purple and claim that that craftworlds main food slowly changes their skin colour

Why not facepaint or something similar?

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

Try red, light green, or light blue.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

Red would be cool because I cant think of a 40k army that had a red skin tone and like mad rabbit said just call it facepaint if someone gets onto you about it.

Forever alone

You could paint their skin red and explain that they have caught chronic anger.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I think a really pale light blue might really enhance their strange and foreign xenos aspect

Honestly who cares about justification, your models are your own personal property you can do anything you want with them and if someone b*tches and complains then justify it with I am god to them and because I say so. really the only one who has to like your army is you don't let other peoples opinions change that.

Lol thanks guys. Some great ideas there. I got some time to ponder anyway, as I'm in the middle of kitbashing Chaos Cultists and the Eldar are being kept waiting for their paint unitl the Cultists are out of the way

Yeah, do whatever the hell you want with 'em - they're YOUR models.

Just bear in mind that some fluff "purists" might actually refuse to play against you. It's true - I've seen it happen.

Alles klar, eh, Kommissar?

That's ok. I mostly just play against friends anyway. I do love the fluff though, so I'll want to come up with an explanation for my own sake. But I reckon any flimsy excuse will do
