Well in the future I plan to create a renegade Imperial Guard regiment. one that has been corrupted by Slaanesh. Now ive never made a Imperial Guard or a Chaos Force so whilst I have a few good Ideas I need alot of help expanding them.

From a purely model point of view i've been considering using catachan models, but with there skin painted ghostly pale and with black leather uniforms broken up by the odd shirt or bandana of purple. For more veteran units Im considering using Cadian models but modelling some basic mutations onto them to signify that they are blessed by Slaanesh. Nothing up their with what Chaos Space Marines get bestowed with, these guys are only mortal after all. But maybe the odd slight mutation here and there. Tanks would be painted deep purple with Slaaneshi markings, as well as skins and violated carcasses molded on, possibly have dead comissionars mounted on these vehicles.

From an actual unit perspective. I will be using the new IG codex, but I want me army to be relatively Chaos like, rather than just a bog standard Imperial Guard army. Therefore I have a few ideas. No Commissionars, such chaps would be unlikely to fall to Chaos, alot of psykers, for instance the psykers chorus etc. Alot of infantry and heavy weapon platforms, but only a mediocre amount of tanks, as the unit would be hard pressed to keep their motor pool running, Im still out of whether ill have ogryns in my army, something about ogryns falling to chaos, let alone Slaanesh doesnt seem right. They seem to look at the Emperor like a child does Santa and I cant imagine them being lead astray by the seductive call of Slaanesh?

basically what im asking for is threefold. Advice on purely modelling, im inexperienced with greenstuff and havnt the foggiest on how to convert some slaaneshi themed mutations and ritual gear onto troops and vehicles. Secondly advice on list construction, I play in a huge power gamer group, and are myself a power gamer. So my list has to be competitive, I can give up on some of the fluffy nature of the army if I really cannot stick with fluff and a well built army, however I would like to find a medium were the list is competitive but still fluffy. And Finally just background information, has such an event happened before, entire regiments falling to Chaos, has anyone else ever made a themed army like this? etc

Thanks in advance

First off neat idea, and it is a shame that you cant make a real Slaan IG army via LATD, but you get points for making due.

If you have played any chaos at all you know Slaan always get I boosts. They are usually fast as well. With that in mind I was thinking that you have some really interesting modeling options for things such as:
Rough riders- Speed, nice charge bonus, plus imagine the thingsyou could make them ride.......
Valks, A fast flying purple and pink (or whatever color you want) g force inducing thrill ride.....
Penal Legion, Prisoners to sex, drugs, and other Slaan sins...

That is just a start.

Maybe I can help on army list; take more vets than normal infantry platoons, Ogyrns could represent guys who have been horribly mutated.

Fluff wise; entire regiments fall to chaos every day and there are (probably) hundreds of guard players who say their guys a traitor.

Thank you for the advice. Why should I take more vets than normal infantry platoons? Is their any tactical reason, I don't play IG yet so don't know whats good or not.

I'd suggest a big model change to start with. If you're doing a completely Slaanesh army you could be more interesting than just using funny=painted catachan models.

How about taking standard Cadians and then swapping in parts from the Empire Regiments? You know, all the big fluffy sleeves and big feathery hats could be quite slaaneshy

Or taking catachans/cadians and mixing in Empire Flagellants? Lots of good heads, flails, weird weapons, pieces of parchment.

Or catachans mixed with WHFB Chaos Marauders if you're going for the big muscly spiky look.

You can usually buy spare lasgun arms from eBay in bundles. So, for example, a box of catchans, a box of Marauders and a couple of packs of spare lasguns could net you 30-40 models in total, all sightly different and all looking much more chaossy than just painting them purple...

Thank you advice, Is it possible to buy the lasgun arms of the official website, i've been badly owned by Ebay and online stores before, would like to buy of the official site unless theirs no alternative.

Swapping in the occassional chaosey and WH:F bit would be good. No need to overdo it. An effective colorscheme and insignia will already get you far but swapping in some extras would be good. If it's a Slaaneshi force go for bright colors. Light purple, pink,... that way it's clear what they belong to.

Agreed. Make sure your army is distinctly what it should be
