Sunday my playing group is getting together for a team game where it will be 1 team of SM's and 1 team of tau and necrons. so i'm trying to gain a bit more of an edge against my foe

my question is, using searchlights. In the SM dex it says that searchlights are used where "night fighting rules are in effect". Going against Tau, am i able to use searchlights against his stealth suits, which describes them as using "night fighting rules"?

If so, does it illuminate them for both my partner and I, or just me?

I imagine so. You shoot at them using night fighing, and searchlights allow friendly units to ignore night fighting when firing at the illuminated foe.

Sorry, but the Stealth Suit rules say no such thing.

The Stealth Field Generator has its own rules for rolling dice 'as if firing at night'

It makes no reference to actually using the Night Fight rules for the generator. It also refers to the Night Fight rules (if in use for the battle) as having no further effect, which it wouldn't need to do if you were already using those rules anyway.

That's completely up to whoever is organising the game. There are no rules in the rulebook for team games.

That'll normally depend on house rules but it makes sense and I use it (as with my LGWS)
