Subject: Neural Shredder add an attack in close combat?

Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

In the Daemonhunters codex the number of hands needed for a neural shredder is not provided. The FAQ clarifies that it is a one handed weapon. Does the Callidus assassin get 5 attacks (base 3+ 1 for the charge +1 for extra CC weapon) or only 4 on the charge?

Maybe. It depends on whether or not it could be considered a 'special' weapon or not.

If the assassin has really big hands then probably only one is necessary to hoist the weapon.

Well the model is using it one handed, I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything, but is a data point.

Either the WH or DH errata defines that the shredder is a 1h weapon. It doesn't say whether it is special or not though.

Nowhere does it say the Shredder is a Close Combat Weapon anyway

Correct. While the DH FAQ "clarifies" the Neural Shedder as being one-handed, it does not address whether or not a Neural Shedder is a pistol or can be used in Close Combat as a weapon. As such, I'd go with 3 attacks + 1 for the charge + 1 for poison blades if she survives that turn of combat for a potential of 5 attacks if charging.

Please read the rules for gaining an additional attack in close combat. They only require that both weapons be single handed. They do not require them to be either a pistol or a close combat weapon as they did in third edition.

Ghaz, no offence, but the whole section is entitled "Close Combat Weapons" and then goes on to define what a Normal Close Combat Weapon is and what a Special Close Combat Weapon is. It is clear from the context that "Fighting with two single handed weapons" means fighting with two Close Combat Weapons. In fact, the first point is labelled "Two normal close combat weapons", which is more proof that it needs to be classed as a Close Combat Weapon. But then again, this is the guy who claims Pistol + CCW doesn't give a bonus attack, so make of that what you will. Note for the Ever so lovely Mods: No, this is not a personal attack. No I am not being rude. I am just ensuring that all the facts are known.

From page 37 of the Warhammer 40,000 5th edition rulebook:
+1 Two Weapons: Engaged models with two single-handed weapons (typically a close combat weapon and/or pistol in each hand) get an extra +1 attack.
I see nothing that requires that the weapons be either pistols or close combat weapons, nor do the rules on page 42 change this. According to the rules, any two single-handed weapons will grant you an extra +1 attack in close combat regardless of the weapon type.

Apart from the fact that page 42 states:
Two normal close combat weapons
These models gain one bonus attack(see page 37).
Could you explain that?

And as for the comment of of me claiming that a pistol and a close combat weapon will not provide an extra +1 attack in close combat, that is an outright lie on your part because you still can't provide an iota of evidence to back up your claims that there is some rule that makes all close combat weapons single-handed if there is nothing that says otherwise. So a pistol and a close combat weapon WILL provide an extra +1 attack if the close combat weapon is single-handed. You've been given ample opportunity to support your claims, yet you can't to you resort to personal attacks and outrigt lies to avoid the situation.

Ghaz, it is not an outright lie, in every one of your posts, you have said "A Normal Close Combat Weapon is not EXPLICITLY One Handed" and "A Pistol is not EXPLICITLY One handed", and then claimed they don't give a bonus attack. As I have said, there is no rule saying they have to be one handed, only a rule saying they cannot be two handed. read page 42: Two normal close combat weapons These models gain one bonus attack.
No mention of handedness, and it is the same for the others. Page 37 States: +1 Two weapons: Engaged models With two single handed weapons (typically a close combat weapon and a pistol in each hand) get an extra +1 attack. Now why would they give a Normal CCW and Pistol as an example if they are as you claim not Single Handed?
