The question is... should I just footslog the troops or keep it mechanized. If I footslog it i can get another troop squad, probably 8 plaguemarines w/ 2 plasma guns (no champ) or I can add a greater demon and up the squad sizes slightly. Mostly I'm concerned about Armor Company styled IG armies, with vendettas popping up from the sides and shooting clear across the board. I'm also thinking I might want to go with Tzeentch DP's with Bolts of Change and Warp Time.

3 obliterators

I'm still trying to decide on the metagame, I think round one I need to worry the most about IG and Orks

Go 2x Melta gun because Lascannon is nowhere near worth it, keep the rhinos, and Lash or Warptime is a flavor thing. I wouldn't mess with Bolt of Change because it will do nothing. If you're going to drop anything, turn those Chosen into Troop squads with the same setup or drop the single Termicide.

I'd say, for what its worth, that you want rhinos. In 5th edition they are absolutely the best thing in your army. With no rhinos, Daemons beat you off the starting blocks, and you want a shot vs. any enemy.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Part of the reason I'm going with my troops with long range and short range tank killing, is my lackluster performance at the last 2 tournaments, where I faced 2 mech armies and then nob bikers. The lascannon is just a 20pt insurance policy. And if I'm dealing with skimmers that want to play the range game, I want to have overkill for them. I had problems with lucky landraiders, too many vehicles for my oblits to deal with. I'm probably a little overkill iwth 3 units of oblits and 4 more lascannons on top of that, but I have a sinking feeling that 12+ vehicle IG armies will make a mockery of the game if I don't bring it all.

The chosen... there's no way I'd convert them to troops. 5 special weapons? outflanking? I've done extremely nasty things with them since 5th edition came out. In my opinion they are just as much an autoinclude as the first squad of obliterators.

Termicide... I'm on the fence. I could ditch the 3 of them for 1 more obliterator. I'll let opinions pile up and decide later. I've tried 5 and 6 and 10 man squads of termies in the past, with mixed results... for 1, I've yet to see a 10 man squad get killed off. Is a 3 man, do it and be done squad worth its money? I think I'm leaning towards the 3rd obliterator.
