Here's the test mini for the start of my Night Goblin Army. I originally was going to try a really pale green for the skin colour with the idea the night goblins are so use to being in dark caves their skin has become almost white. I couldn't get it to look right so I ended up going with the same skin tone as my ork boys. He's pretty much done except the base. Base will most likely be scorched brown drybrushed with bubonic brown, bleached bone. Some static grass and snow flock. Lots more to come as I nail down the colour scheme.

Thats realistic skin tone and excellent wood.

I'll be very impressed if they all look like this

Thanks for the comments guys. Lots and lots of models ahead of me , so far I've got 5 regiments of 25 night goblins assembled. I've actually got a box of the old night goblins mixed in with some of my newer models. I love the older models too it's a shame GW don't still stock them anymore. The regiments with the older night goblins mixed in look great, really rag tag. Here's a WIP of one of the regiments I'm working on. Just a basecoat on the skin with a wash of badab black so far.

Can't tell much from these early stages but they are shaping up and look rather ok in this wip form,thus far.i Hope to see some more paint on 'em soon.

Did a little bit of work on another goblin. I've pretty much finished off the skin except for the final wash of devan mud. What do you guys think of the slightly paler skin tone? On a side note I'll have to make my images smaller since the forums are cutting off the right hand side. :lol:

I like them and the realistic wod colour you have achived.How did you make the wood look the way it does?

I like the first one more. to get a lighter tone you could paint white on the skin then do multple washes until it has good highlights. And it's fast.

I like the second one more for a night goblin . You mentioned the first is the same as the skin you use for your boyz, and it looks like it. It looks great, just a little too dark/gritty/intimidating for a night gobbo I think

So I vote for the second! It might be easier to determine if the mouth and eyes were done so we can compare the faces without being drawn to the unfinished parts.

Another small update with some more work on another Night Goblin regiment. Basecoat of Knarloc Green and a Badab Black wash on the skin. Snakebite leather on the cloth and rope areas and I've also started the wood areas on the back rows with Calthan Brown. The test goblin also makes an appearance in the back row . I've mixed the Battle of Skull Pass short bow goblins with some models from a Night Goblin regiment box to get a bit of variety in the poses.

Currently I'm deciding on whether to add some conversion models for inside my regiments to make them a bit more interesting. I've got another boxset of Skull Pass models and a seperate box of Night Goblins for materials to use. But since the Night Goblin models are so small conversion ideas aren't flowing to easy, hopefully I'll get something worked out soon. Lots more to come.

Small update on the regiment I'm currently working on. All the basecoat colours have been applied to the goblins with a wash of badab black. I've started highlighting up the skin tone on them now. I ended up going with the darker skin tone too, 3 goblins skin done 22 to go .

Great stuff good discipline and I really like the wood!

Finished the skin on the rest of the models on the front rank. The two on either end weren't alot of fun due to the bow hands covering most of the face making it extremely hard to get the brush in to highlight

Hey guys small update on the first regiment of Night Goblins. I decided to finish off the front rank of goblins and then move on from there. So here they are, about the only thing I still need to do is another layer of snow and a bit of bleached bone dry brushed on the grass to weather it a bit. Let me know what you think.

Super small update today and probably not too exciting. I decided to do work on the movement tray for the regiment. I've also put magents under the bases for the 5 models I've painted so far. Hopefully more exciting updates to come

Small update time again, I haven't been doing any painiting but I've been working on my giant for the Night Goblin army. It's still WIP but the basic idea is of a giant Fanatic . Still lots more sculpting to do on the hood and a few more goblins and snottings to add to him. I was originally going to add a big fanatic ball but I liked the idea of him just grabbing a bunch of fanatic balls and chains and heading off. Let me know what you think.

So I've finished the work on the giant now. Finished off the hood with the threads connecting the different pieces. I've also added some mushrooms growing out of his skin as I liked the idea of him being a cave giant with fungus growing all over him. I added another strap across his chest for the goblin in the lookout box(Not the best looking design but hopefully with some paint I can fix it). Lastly I've added a few snotlings to the base and one sitting on his shoulder ready to throw a fanatic ball at an unsuspecting enemy. I've been debating adding a sack to the giants back full of fanatic balls for the little snotling to grab more ammo but not sure if it will be to much stuff on the giant making it too busy.
