Hi,

Here my last "creature", sculped by Raffaele Stumpo :

This is very, very. . . just bizarre. Really cool though. It's a grand sculpt with a grander paint job.

Now some explanation about my work:

First the mini, it was sculped by Raffalele Stumpo (italian Golden Demon winner) casted in white metal and resin (http://www.coolminiornot.com/store/product.php?xProd=3563&xSec=99).
Is a multipart with 2 different heawy weapon (sword and axe), you also can find a copulle of horn.

All the model was primed with "grey" (tamiya surface primer), after the first layar for the demon body was made with "GW greveyard earth", after a heawy wash of "GW devlan mud".
First highlight again with "GW greveyard earth" after that i have added more "GW bleached bone" to reach the last (for me) highlight.

For the wings I've strarted from a base of "Vallejo dark fleshtone", followed by an heawy wash of "GW devlan mud". After that i use a light layer (with more water) of "GW dwarf flesh" followed by a thin layer of "GW elf flash".

And now a brief description for the metallic stuff (axe and arm protections):
Axe - first layer of dry brush with a mixture of "GW boltgun metal" ad "GW scorched brown", followed by the "rusty and aging things" ("GW vermin brown" + "GW blazing orange" + "Vallejo orange red", every color was painted with the same tecnique very diliuted and with ad old drydrush brush...do many spot over th emetallic area).
Last phase use some 'GW mithril silver" to do some scratched over the axe's blade.

The scenic base - it is fully hand made starting from the wooden cube (buyed a DIY store the long version and cutted by my self). The first layer for the earth beneath the demon's feet eas made using "milliput yellow/grey" after using a "LOT" of different earth colored pigments (coming from Andrea Miniatures earth pigments set), every layer was made my pingments and thinner (acrylic color thinner).
All was sealed with the "MIG pigment fixer".

The littler "rusty" chaos symbol was taken from the "FW etched brass renegade militia symbols", rusted and aged with different kind of rusty pigments.

Thats All Folks !

Thanks for you attention.

Squiggy is going to throw 2 cents at this one:
The model
The model itself really isnt anything special IMHO, GW provide much better demon models. I feel it lacks any depth or interesting pose, it merely looks like he got the sun in his eyes and is laughing at something. Well done to the guy but I personally feel the model is below par for GW. Also the base lacks any detail at all. It merely looks like a slab of foam or cardboard.

The paint job
The model has been paint really well for the most of it, the skin is just right, the wings really suit, weapon is fantastic. I have a real problem with the eyes as the light emitted looks intense but only stops around his eyes, seems off to me, i feel you need to tone it down abit. The legs need to be redone IMO as they blend in with the ground that much you lose a lot of detail and interest. Lastly the base is that dry and dull it detracks a lot from the actual model.

Over a below average model and a above average paint job.

6.5/10

Please take with a pinch of salt.

I think it's an average model with an average paint job. The base has to be a different color than the model or it looks like one solid piece.

I think it looks pretty good. It would work for a generic Daemon from the CSM Codex.

The sculpt is pretty good, nicely detailed and as warpcrafter said "would work for a generic daemon"

The paint job is ok but something to distinguish it from the base would be good, unless you want a daemon forming from the ground (but that wouldnt have legs)

I like the whole thing. Sure Ive seen better sculpts, but in reality, you can say that about anything. I think the paint job is very nice as well. I disagree about the glowing eyes. I dont see why glowing eyes should pulse out and cover the whole head, or another model. They are just eyes for god sakes.
Nicely done man.

That is a groovy mini, and one that I wasn't familiar with.

Man, I need to scour coolmini's shop again, they've got newer stuff.
