I'd like to drop the ST off of the stealers, but I got most of them second-hand, and they came that way. Without the arms to swap them out myself, I am afraid I'm stuck with them. I think the Zoanthropes + Barbed Strangler spammage could be a fun trick against the IG I am likely to see, especially if I make it through. I've also considered dropping the warriors for a shooty walking Tyrant with some Tyrant Guard to give me another Scream.

Well, if you could free up points from the stealers that would be great; might be worth it to buy the arms to replace the ST. Also, having a unit or two with FH isn't a bad idea; you're going to have to assault things in cover in at least 1 game.

I'm guessing you'd leave a group of gaunts and your warriors on the home objective? Anyway, just be sure to keep the zoanthropes in synapse otherwise they'll be instant killed. (Yeah, you have bigger threats on the table in the beginning, but you can always roll a 1 when a stray S8 blast comes your way).

I'd go Nids. To many melta's this year and to much AP2 (executioners) to keep deathwing viable at this point level. Though I would make one of the guant units w/out number. It's a huge help! Oh and drop wings for your hive tyrant and get some guard

Any reason for Guard over Flying? Just the firepower he's going to be subject to?

Agree strongly with Hulksmash (again) modelcount on the deathwing is very low and good AP weapons are cheap and mobile in the new guard armies.

The list needs some changing around (aka. stealer shock isn't effective and another Hive Tyrant would be necessary.)

Well, I think I've decided on nids. The current metagame isn't going to be kind to the Deathwing.

Mind expanding on this? Are you saying stealer shock isn't effective in 5e, or that I don't have enough stealers for it, or that it's not effective at 2500? My thought was that it'll be harder to avoid the outflanking stealers with more models on the same size board, and if they do cluster in the middle, it's food for the templates.

As for the second Tyrant, I'm torn on a shooty tyrant plus guard vs. the current warrior config. As it stands, that warrior squad has a S4 BS and 6 S6 Deathspitters and 14 wounds. I think the Tyrant has enough utility to make it a contender, though (namely another Psychic Scream).

Changes: I oped to drop the warriors for a second Tyrant. I think the Tyrant + Tyrant Guard are going to make target prioritization a bigger problem for my opponent, let alone adding more S8 to the army for those pesky Nob Bikers, and another Scream for Lash and Psyker Battle Squad lists. I actually considered dropping Warp Blast on another Zoanthrope to get Shadow Across the Warp, but decided it was too situational, and I didn't want to lose a S10 shot over it.

I dropped ST off the stealers, gave one of the units Flesh Hooks, given that I'm bound to see some opponents in cover, and gave the Spinegaunts Without Number. I am considering dropping the Stealers a bit more to give the Termagants WoN as well, but I haven't decided, yet.

I feel like the list is pretty solid, but I definitely want some C&C if you have them. Am I a bit naive to go with Nidzilla + Stealer Shock? I tried to fill out numbers with Gaunts for daisy picking and charge screening, but if you don't think it's enough, please tell me.

So the reason for guard is that you can then screen your Hive Tyrant and his unit w/gaunts, getting a cover save. Since the Tyrant loses his MC status as far as shooting and movement goes.

Let me give you a little food for thought on how I'd run my 'Nids around this level:

Tyrant w/TL Devourer, Ehanced Senses, Extended Carapace, +1St. 2xGuard

Tyrant w/TL Devourer, Ehanced Senses, Extended Carapace, +1St. 2xGuard

9 Warriors w/+1st, 8 DS, 9 ST, 1 BS

9 Warriors w/+1st, 8 DS, 9 ST, 1 BS

Carnifex w/Barbed Strangler, Scything Talons

3xCarnies w/whatever, I run mine w/ST's and BS's w/ various upgrades but a lot of people swear by the Venom Cannon

Or just run 2 heavy carnies and the 3 zoan's. If you do run the Zoan's i'd run the ST/BS Carnies.

I generally run 4xSquads of gaunts and 2xsquads of stealers. 2 of the gaunt squads are only 10-12 gaunts with w/out number. The other two are generally a large squad of hormagaunts and a large squad of dev gaunts but most people tell me these are useless. That being said i've only lost twice with my 'nids since I built them. I just don't always have the patience to move that many models My 2k list is 100 models w/6 MC's

I tried the Hormagaunts today instead of one of the units of 'stealers. I like that they can perform a lot of the functions of regular gaunts, but are a fair bit more killy, and are fast, so can threaten daisy-pickers and whatnot. Still, I am not 100% sold on them over another unit of stealers/more WoN gaunts.

Psychic Choir is a bit of a gamble, but if it pays off, it's going to pay off big. I only have 3 BS now, but that combined with Shadow in the Warp could put some serious hurt on CSM and IG lists, I think. Still, I could drop carapace from the carnies to give them warp blast, though I'd be more likely to drop them, move the boomfex to Heavy Support with a fifth wound, and use the points on Warriors for the synapse web.

Is the whole template/pinning doom thing worth it if I only have 1-2 Psychic Screams?
