Evening Dakka!
i come to ask you all for a favor!
could you list some armies that are all around balanced if not strong in 5th edition?
i am extrenmely competitive, and i cant control it, i get heated when my dice rolling is bad (which, im not exaggerating, it always is)
for example, i charged my 2 fex's into a squad of firewarriors, out of my 14 attacks, i scored 1 wound, in which i rolled a 1 for, then i proceeded to take a wound due to a rolled 1.
i love this game, but i hate how heated it gets me EVERYTIME we play, i dont want to quit, but i might because i hate getting pissed over a game :/
any help would be appreciated in letting me know the most forgiving armies
thank you!
also, is fantasy a better option for me? i like the look of vampire counts

I'd suggest some psychological therapies would help with this and probably many other times frustration will set in...
in the short term, try something like dual lash chaos

Go play deamons in Fantasy.
You'll never lose, but if you ever play Dark Elves with 70 Crossbowmen and about 4 RBT's with a Hydra and X4 Sorceresses, You'll probably explode.
For 40k, go for Lash Prince or Nob Bikers, or perhaps the Vulkan He'stan List. Imperial Guard seem good too.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Even if you do power game, someone at some point will outfox you. What's the point of playing if you can't reliably enjoy yourself?

Play with substandard and poor builds, and try to do your best with them. You will lose, but losing often means you get used to it, and you start revelling in the sucesses you did have.
at some stage, you will cease being 'heated' at poor dice rolls.

Oh sorry, my mistake. Being cursed by the dice gods never goes away, nor does the heartache.
I wash the pain & the tears away with beer and a good curry and tell myself, next time will be different, next time...

At least as tasty as victory, I'd say.

stop masturbating so much the excessive levels of testosterone might be effecting your enjoyment levels
On a slightly more serious noted if your not enjoying it take a break for a while no matter what you do you will always get burnt out. Have a break, take a deep breath and tap your heels together saying "It's just a game" three times
troll off
on the dice rolling matter there was a good article on bols on subconcious rolling of the dice. Try putting your dice in a cup to roll them to prevent this from happening or do as some dakkaites have and make a dice tower

Or practice your cheating - I mean, ' natural rolling' http://win-warhammer-40k.blogspot.com/2009/01/dice-rolling-techniques.html...
I dont condone this, and personally I roll the dice using a cup to shake them in (because if they touch my hands, they carry my curse).
Interestingly enough, whilst standard dice despise me, scatter dice are my bitch (in that Im always 'hittin dat').

Change your dice.
Play sisters with lots of flamers. (taking half the dice rolling out of the equation)
...and most importantly...
Take a step back, accept your "luck" and remember that this is only a game. What do you really "win"? Poor sportsmanship qualities will make it harder for you to find opponents. If you enjoy playing, get your emotions under control.
