Hi all now I have not been on the site long but I did do a small look around and I did not find much on Pinning or ( pin vicing )
And so untimely our Room mate ( my wife and I ) she collects model dragons and her cat knocked one down and broke the wings off so I decided to fix it for her
as you can see from the pictures the model was BADLY hurt..

and well I put 1 + 1 and come up with 2..
now for them who don't know what tools to use I use the following
pin vice or Dremel ( hand drill )
Super glue ( for extra support )
paper clip ( for the pin )
GS or epoxy ( depends on the model inc. )
modeling sculpting tools

( REMEMBER SAFETY FIRST AND FOREMOST !! )
and so I always use eye wear when I am using a power tool even a Dremel
now as you can see I have cleaned the brake and marked where the pins are to go ( the RED DOTS )

( Sorry for hte bad picture but Im still getting used to the camera )
Now some Not all tend to Drill the broken part first I however do not I drill the body first as seen in the picture.

Now in order to make the pins I use paper clips for many reasons
1) there cheap a box of paper clips ( around 60+ ) for only 3 dollars and change..
2) they come in different thickness as well as strong for a small peace of metal

as you can see I also use a Strong pair of cutters I find the
GW ones tend to snap a lot and so I use some harder tempered steel ones
Now that the body is prepped and ready for the wings I found that the wings did not fit right so I had to brake out the
GS or epoxy

MMMM what one ro use..........(
lol)
well I picked the
GS but some may find on bigger models that epoxy may work for them
anyway after I pined the body I then looked at the wings and marked the pins with a sharpie ( so that they ink would mark the wings )
and then pined the wings and started to fix them on then I saw a Gap fromt he wings to the body

and im not sure if you can tell but there is a small 1
cm gap so I started to mix some
GS and started to cover the crack and push it in gently as the Super glue was the only thing holding the wings on

And well its almost done and yes I know its a HORRENDOUS pant job on the model but its pre-painted so there is nothing I can do there ( also its not my model )
and well when it was fished it looks like this now..

and well just remember that when you have finished with your
GS to just go back to it after 10 or so mins to check on it as sometimes it will "swell" due to the water in the air ( I find ) and with epoxy you cannot sculpt it like you can
GS
And if there is a a Tut on this then I am sorry but as I said I did not find one C&C is welcome but this is what I find works for models with wings..IE Dragons.Demons inc...
Take care now...
